Materials: size 5 needles OR size 2 if using sport weight. Scraps of worsted OR sport weight yarn in 5 different colors tapestryneedle Abbreviations: k=knit kfb=knit into the front and back k2tog=knit two together st(s)=stitch(es) []=repeat the instructions in the brackets specified number of times L= Loop stitch How to: Knit the st, but leave it on the left needle, bring yarn to front and wrap it around your thumb, anc back between the needles. Pattern: Cast on 16 sts in with hair color(orange) and size 5 dpn, being careful not to twist. Knit 1 round. Work 1 round of L st. Change to skin color and knit 6 rounds. Change to pink and work 5 rounds. Next round: [Kfb around, knit around]x2. Purl one round. Bind off knitwise. With blue, pick up 16 st on the inside along the round before the increases. Knit 1 round. Work 8 st back and forth for 6 rows for the heel flap. Turning of heel: Next row: Knit 5 k2tog, turn. Next row: Purl 3, p2tog, turn. Next row: Knit 3, k2tog, turn. Next row: Purl 3, p2tog, turn. Knit across 4 heel sts, pick up 5 st along side of heel flap, knit the 8 instep sts, pick up 5 sts. Note: Beginning of four remaining heel st is beginning of row. Note #2: join sts into the round Next round: k7, k2tog, k8, k2tog, k3 Next round: k6, k2tog, k8, k2tog, k2 Next round: k5, k2tog, k8, k2tog, k1 Next round: [Kfb around, knit around]x2. Purl one round. Bind off knitwise. With purple, pick up 16 st on the inside along the round before the increases. Knit 7 rows. Next round: [Kfb around, knit around]x2. Purl one round. Bind off knitwise. With purple, pick up 16 st on inside along the round before the increases. Knit around. Next round: Knit 2, k2tog around. Next round: Knit. Next round: Knit 1, k2tog around. Next round: K2tog around. Cut yarn and draw through remaining sts. Finishing: Weave in ends and embroider a little face. If desired, pick up 2 stitches in the center of the head section for a nose.
