Building the shawl
Knit the sections in this order: A-B-C-B-D-B-C-B-D-B-C-B-D-B-C-B-D-B-C-B-E
Finishing:
Sew in all ends. If you like you can make a crochet chain along the inside of the neck from first to last section B to get a snug fit for the neck. See picture below. Blocking is not necessary but a good wet block will give it a nice finish.

Abbreviations:
BO - Bind off CO - Cast On K - Knit K3tog - Knit three stitches together Kf&b - knit once in the front loop and once in the back loop of stitch and thereby increasing one stitch M1 - Increase one stich by picking up and knitting the strand between the first and second stich. Knit into the front as to deliberately make a small hole. P - Purl RS - Right Side S1wyif - Slip one stitch purlwise with yarn in front st - Stitch w&t - slip one stitch from left needle to right, bring yarn to front of the work, slip stitch back to left needle. Turn work and continue. WS - Wrong Side yo - yarn over, bring yarn to front and then over the right hand needle to the back again. The strand of yarn wrapped over the needle is then knitted on the next row resulting in a new stitch.
