Requiremehts
120-140 yards/ 110-130 metres of aran weight yarn. 4.5mm circular needle. 4 stitch markers
Abbreviations
BORM: Beginning of round marker Kfb - knit front and back in the same stitch; this increases by one stitch Sts - stitches
Patterh: Section 1
Row 1: Cast on 8 sts. Join in the round. Place stitch marker. This is your BORM. Row 2: knit around Row 3: \*kfb in next 2 sts, place marker\* repeat to end Row 4: knit around Row 6: knit around Row 7: \*kfb, k4, kfb\* repeat to end Row 8: knit around Continue as set, increasing each side of the stitch marker in odd rounds, and knitting evenrounds. : is large enough to fit the top of the recipients head, move onto step 2. As yol work the first row, remove all stitch markers except the BORM.
Section 2:
Rows 1 & 2: \*k2, p2\* to end Rows 3 & 4: k1, \*p2, k2\* to last 3 sts, p2, k1 Rows 5 & 6: \*p2, k2\* to end Rows 7 & 8: p1 \*k2, p2\* to last three sts, k2, p1 Repeat the pattern as set in the above 8 rows. Continue to desired length. I used all the yarn I had which gave a large foldover brim. Cast off loosely in pattern. Block using your preferred method.
