TARDIS Scarf
by Samantha S.

This is my first pattern and I just made it up for myself, so I'll write exactly what I did here but feel free to play around with it. Makes a scarf approximately 20cm wide, 200cm long - I made it quite long so the whole TARDlS could be seen when the scarf is tied.
Materials:
Gauge:
18 stitches and 22 rows to 10cm Approx. 200g 10-ply blue wool 8-ply white wool 8-ply black wool 2-ply white wool 5mm needles (US size 8) Yarn needle
Pattern:
Cast on 38 stitches in blue wool. I used a chain selvedge edge which is included in the 38 stitches, but is not illustrated in the chart below. Simply slip the first stitch knitwise and purl the last stitch on every row. Use stockinette stich for the first 3 rows, then begin the pattern Note: the chart is meant to indicate the front of the work, so purls and knits need to be reversed on everysecondrow

Key Knit in blue wool Purl in blue wool 一Knit in white wool 0 Knit in black wool Repeat each of the shaded areas once. After this, simply keep knitting in stockinette stitch until the scarf is the length you want. Don't forget the selvedge edge if you are using it. For the letters, I used 8-ply white wool to write POLICE BOX and 2-ply white wool to write PUBLIC CALL. How you do this is up to you; I used back stitch to embroider the letters. To make sure they were in the right place, I cut out a piece of paper the same size as the as the black knitted area, drew the letters in pencil until I felt they were in the right place and then used that as a reference.
