You will now begin working back and forth on a small number of stitches to create the 5 points. NOTE: you can either leave enough yarn on your tails to sew the star to the center of the shawl, or cut normal tails and use another yarn/thread to sew the star to the shawl. Row 1: k18 (turn) Row 2 and all even rows: purl Row 3: k8, k2tog, k8 Row 5: k7, k3tog, k7 Row 7: k6, k3tog, k6 Row 9: k5, k3tog, k5 Row 11: k4, k3tog, k4 Row 13: k3, k3tog, k3 Row 15: k2, k3tog, k2 Row 17: k1, k3tog, k1 cut yarn, draw tightly through stitches

Finishing

Block shawl to desired circular shape/measurements. It's easier if you pin the shawl out, then pin the start in the right shape to fit in the center, so that it'll dry in a shape that will fit in the center. Once dry, seam start to center of shawl. Weave in ends.
