-Quick and Easy Gator.
Designed by Melissa Transtrum

love gators because they are so easy to make, easy to wearand are incredibly warm. They also are nice because they are not big and bulky like a scarf but provide the warmth of one. Because they are so quick and easy to make, they are good forbeginner projects and make a great last minute (or not if you are a planner) gift for someone.
Materials:
Yarn: Sample was knit using Universal Yarns Classic Worsted LP (197yds, 100g) 1 skein, but any worsted weight yarn will do. The finished piece used 111 yards and 56.5g. Needles: US size 7 (4.5mm) or 8 (5mm), 16" (40cm) circular Notions: stitch marker, darning needle
Gauge:
28sts and 22 rows = 4"” unstretched, so if you count just the knit stitches, there are 14 because the purl stitches suck in Pattern Notes: This is a great project for handspun too! The reason the needles are listed as 7 or 8 is because of the yarn that was used for the sample in the picture. It tends to run on the heavier worsted size, so I drop down a needle size to make up for it. As I make more with regular worsted weight yarn I will use a size 8.
Abbreviations:
CO: Cast on BO: Bind off
Pattern:
Loosely CO 88 sts and join in the round making sure not to twist and place stitch marker between first and last stitches to mark the beginning of the round. K2, P2 around until piece measures 7.5 inches, or desired length. BO loosely and weave in ends. No need to block if you don't want to. If you bind off loose enough, the edge will look a little ruffly and bell out a bit. This is a good thing because it allows the gator to stretch at the base of the neck and fit better down there.
About the Designer:
I have been knitting for more than half of my life, and do it as much as I possibly can. When I'm not chasing my 3 kids around the house, I can be found knitting or teaching at the local yarn store. My motto is: knitting, not just a hobby, but an obsession. If you have any questions about the pattern, you can find me on Ravelry.com as Ananzi, or email me at Melissa @ meltrandesigns.com.
