Materials:

Bulky yarn (7wpi) about 160m (175yards). I used Colourscape Chunky by Rowan (100% lambswool shade northern lights) 5,50 e 6,00mm (US 9 and 10) circular needles (80cm - 32inches cable for the magic loop, or cavo 40cm - 16 inches cable and dpns set for the last rounds) 1 stitch marker Tapestry needle Gauge: 10cm (4inches) = 14 sts and 24 rounds (in the round, before washing). Directions:

Using 5,5mm (US 9) needles CO 72 sts, join in the round, marking the beginning with a M. Rounds from 1 to 13: 1/l twisted ribs (\*kltbl, pl\* repeat from \* to * to the end of round) Change to 6,00mm (US 10) needles Rounds form 14 to 16: k Round 17: p Repeat rounds from 14 to 17 7 times more Round 46:\*k7, k2tog\* repeat from \* to \* to the end of round (total 64 sts) Rounds 47 and 48: k Round 49: p Round 50: \*k6, k2tog\* repeat from \* to \* to the end of round (total 56 sts) Rounds 51 and 52: k Round 53: p Round 54: \*k5dir, k2tog\* repeat from \* to \* to the end of round (total 4& sts) Rounds 55 and 56: k Round 57: p Round 58: \*k4, k2tog\* repeat from \* to \* to the end of round (total 40 sts) Round 59: k Round 60: \*k3, k2tog\* repeat from \* to \* to the end of round (total 32 sts) Round 61: p. Finishing:

Cut yarn leaving a 20/30cm (8/10 inches) long tail, thread it on tapestry needle, close all the stitches passing the needle trough them and pull tight to close the hole in the middle. Secure yarn with hidden sts on the back and weave in ends. Wear your hat proudly and with sense of humour!
