ATALANTA SHAWL
Designed by Janet Kuhlmann Shaped at the shoulders and buttoned at the front, this hybrid of a shawl and cape stays in place and allows free arm movement. The tapered shape is flattering to all figure types.

PatternNotes:Theshawlisconstructedfromthe top down using alternating back loop only and front loop only rows to reinforce the striping effect, provide better drape, and provide visual interest if using a solid color yarn. Turning chains do not count as stitches throughout the pattern. The pattern is made with button holes on each side so that a tie can be used to secure. To use a button closure, omit one of the buttonholes. If using a shawl pin, omit both button holes. Other modifications may be needed depending on the type ofclosureselected.
