ROAD TO STARS HOLLOW SCARF
By Rebecca-Anne C. Do Rozario I've got about the next two and a half hours planned, and then there's just darkness and possibly some dragons.-Rory,GilmoreGirls Let me solve your life planning issues. TOOLS&INGREDIENTS
200-250g DK weight yarn in colour A\* 200-250g DK weight yarn in colour B\* (shown in Bendigo Woollen Mills' Stellar: Topaz and BlueAgate) 4mm needles for knitting flat Darning needle \*I knitted the scarf with 200g balls of yarn and ran just short (about 15 rows) after finishing the first balls. If you'd prefer to save on yarn and safely finish with under 400g of yarn, you could just skip the stars and snowflakes on the ends of the scarf.

NOTE ON DOUBLE KNITTING
Don't worry - double knitting isn't hard! But it is a bit hard to explain, so if you're not familiar with the technique, I'd recommend looking up some YouTube tutorials for one that Suits you. Basically, you cast on your two colours together - casting on each stitch with both strands of yarn - maintaining the order of the colours across the row. You'll cast on half as many stitches as you require, because you'll actually have double the stitches on the needle and each colour will be worked separately from the cast on. Knitting a flat piece like the scarf, you alternate knitting and purling the stitches across the row (ie k1,p1 all the way across). The knit stiches form the side that is facing you as you knit. The purled stitches form the other side (the ones you'll knit when you turn the work around). You treat the knit and purl stitches as pairs and always move both strands of yarn forward or backward to knit or to purl, although you'll only knit or purl with one strand. The colour you use is indicated by the chart, but keep in mind that on the right side, you follow the chart from the right to the left, on the wrong side, from the left to the right, and you must also work the charted colours in the opposite way on the wrong side (ie, the white background squares will be worked with Colour A on the right side, but with Colour B on thewrong side). As you knit from the charts, the knit stitches follow the charts and you purl the next stitch in the opposite colour to the one you just knit with. As a result, each pair of stitches will involve both colours of yarn, creating the reversed knitted fabric.
CAST ON

With double knitting, you cast on with both colours held together. Cast on 38 stitches. Make sure the colours remain in the same order (ie ABABAB etc). While the scarf is reversible, as it does feature writing, there is a right side, so make sure to choose your colours accordingly. You'll have 76 stitches now.
CHARTS
Follow the charts in order. Remember that the charts represent the knit stitches (therefore 38 stitches). Right Side: follow chart right to left with Colour A as your background colour and Colour B as your foreground colour (ie stars, snowflakes and other features). Wrong Side: follow chart left to right with Colour B as your background colour and Colour A as your foreground colour.

The design does start to run upside down at Chart E so that both sides of the scarf consequently run in the right direction whenworn.
CAST OFF
Once you've finished your charts, cast off by using the two colours together, working each pair of stitches as one.
