Awareness Ribbon Afghan Patch
About this pattern
This pattern was originally developed for the Pratchgan 2008 (see the Ankh Morpork Knitters Guild Group on Ravelry for details). It can be worked with or without shadows. Directions for non-shadowed version are given in square brackets.

Materials needed
Yarn: Lana Grossa Cool Wool 2000, colors: #05 off-white (MC), #444 dark grey, (CC1),[#433 black (CC2)] Gauge: $26\;\mathrm{st}=4^{\prime\prime}$ in stockinette stitch (after blocking). Gauge is not important, this pattern works well with any yarn from fingering up to worsted weight.

Directions
Using MC, CO 40 st. Work garter stitch until work measures about $2\;\mathrm{{cm}}$ fromco edge. (1) Next row (WS): p1,k1,p1,k1,p1. Follow chart for the next 30 st, p1,k1,p1,k1,p1. [If working the shadowless version, treat each occurence of Cc2 as CC1.] (2) Next row (RS): p1,k1,p1,k1,p1. Follow chart for the next 30 st, p1,k1,p1,k1,p1. Repeat rows (1) and (2) until chart is completed. Work garter stitch for about $2\;\mathrm{cm}$ , then BO all st.
