Gauge: 26 x32 = 10 x 10cm Yardage: 160 yards or about 60g sport-weight yarn. Needle: 2.5mm and 3mm. To fit: Adult woman, but can be adjusted to fit child and man by adjusting gauge. I would try fingering weight for child and DK- weight for adult man. This version is knitted in sport weight. CO 132 st on needle 2.5mm. Join for working in the round. Place marker, and start knitting.
Rib:
Round 1-3: \*Purl one, knit one, for 7 st ending with a purl. Knit 4 st. \* repeat \*\* til end of round. Round 4 : \*Purl one, knit one, for 7 st ending with a purl. Put 2 st on DPN and hold in front of work. Knit 2 st. Knit 2 st. from DPN. Repeat round 1-4, three more times. Then knit row 1 and 2, one more time.
Body:
Switch to larger needle, 3mm, and start working chart. Repeat row 1-24 all the way around the hat, and knit the chart one time. The beginning of round marker has to be moved as the cables appear. The red line indicates where the beginning of round starts. Move the marker with the line.

Crown shaping:
Round 1 : Knit 10 st.,K2tog. Repeat until end. Round 2 : Knit Round 3 : Knit 9 st.,K2tog. Repeat until end. Round 4 : Knit Round 5 : Knit 8 st, K2tog, repeat till end. Keep knitting and decreasing in the same manner, decreasing on every second row, knitting one less st before k2tog, for each time. Keep doing this until you have done a round of K2tog all the way around the crown. Pull tread trough remaining st. and pull thigh. Weave in loose ends, block and enjoy.
