Pattern
With Red color and size 7 circular needles, CO 84 st, place marker, and join to knit in the round. Row1: $^{*}\mathsf{K}3.$ , P1. Rep. from \* until end of row. Subsequent Rows: Continue in K3, P1 ribbing until hat brim measures at least 3 inches.

Rows 1 - 5: K across all st in red. Row6: $^{\ast}\mathsf{K}6$ red, K1 with gold and red yarns held together $\boxed{(\mathsf{s e e\,N B\,b e l o w})},$ Rep. from \* until end of row (14 gold st total). Rows 7 - 11: K across all st in red. Row 12: $^{*}\mathsf{K}3$ red, K1 with gold and red yarns held together, K3 red, Rep. from \* Rows 13 - 24: Repeat rows 1-12 fourmore times, so that there are 4 "seed" rows in all. Row 25-30: K across all st.

Row 31: $^{*}\mathsf{K}6$ red, K1 green, K5 red, rep. from \* Row 32: $^{*}\mathsf{K}\mathsf{5}$ red, K2 green, K5 red, rep. from \* Rows 33 - 34: $\ast\mathsf{K}4$ red, K4 green, K4 red, rep Row 35: $^{*}\mathsf{K}3$ red, K6 green, K3 red, rep from \* Row 36: $^{\ast}\mathsf{K}2$ red, K8 green, K2 red, rep from \* Row 37: $^{*}\mathsf{K}1$ red, K10 green, K1 red, Rep from \* until end of row.

Seven 12-st. repeats Row 38: K all st in green across row. Row 39: Begin decreases: \*K2tog, K11, rep. from \* until end of row. Repeat Rows 38 - 39 until there are no longer enough stitches to comfortably use the circular needles. Switch to dpns and continue to decrease until 3 st remain. Continue with these 3 st as an l-cord until cord is long enough to curl down as in picture. BO, break yarn leaving a long enough tailto sew the curly-cue into place with your tapestry needle. Weave in all ends, and enjoy!
