Cute Strawberry Coaster

Materials:

Optional:
'5 mini buttons and 1 flat sew on flower button for embellishing strawberry Finished measurements: Approx. 5 Abbreviations and Stitches Used: ch=chain fo=fasten off hdc=half double crochet sc=single crochet sl st=slip stitch st(s) = stitch(es) dc=double crochet sp=space () = repeat between O number of times indicated or all in one stitch as noted [] = repeat between brackets number of times indicated Helpful Notes, Photos and Tips are located at the end of the pattern: \~Coaster is crocheted in the round; do not join stitches after each round unless otherwise indicated. \~Using a stitch marker or small piece of scrap yarn is great for keeping track of stitches. \~I used hair spray to flatten and block my coaster and to help keep the leaves pointing slightly upwards. Just spray on, flatten, shape and let air dry. Works great.

Strawberry
Starting at bottom, working in rows with 115 1: ch 2, 3 sc in 2nd ch from hook, turn (3) 2: ch 1, 2 sc in first sc, sc in each of the next 2 sc, 2 sc in last sc, turn (5) 3: ch 1, sc in each of the next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc, sc in each remaining sc, turn (6) 4: ch 1, sc in each sc, turn (6) 5: ch 1, sc in first sc, 2 sc in each of the next 2 sc, sc in each remaining sc, turn (8) 6-7: ch 1, sc in each sc, turn (8) 8: ch 1, skip first sc, sc in each of the next 5 sc, skip next sc, sc in last sc, do not turn (6) 9: working down first side, ch 1, sc in each of the next 7 sts, 3 sc in next st, continuing on other side, sc in each of the next 7 sts, join with sl st, FO, weave in ends. Continuing the top of berry with 212 10: join with sc in last st worked, sc in each st across, turn (8) 11: ch 1, skip first sc, sc in each of the next 5 sc, skip next sc, sc in last sc, turn (6) 12: ch 1, skip first sc, sc in each of the next 3 sc, skip next sc, sc in last sc, turn (4) 13: ch 1, [skip next sc, sc in next sc] 2 times, (2) FO, weave in ends 14: join with sl st between top 2 sc sts, ch 4, FO, weave in end, cut top of yarn near last ch

Leaves (make 3)
Starting at bottom of leaf with 212 1: ch 4, dc in 4th ch from hook, ch 3, sl st in 3rd ch from hook, dc back in beginning 4th ch, ch 3, sl st in same beginning ch FO, leave a long tail to use for sewing, weave in beginning yarn

Using ending yarn from each leaf, sew leaves to front of strawberry just over first green row; refer to pictures for help with placement. Sew strawberry to coaster, making sure there is enough room for your coffee or teacup. Add buttons, block (or try that hair spray I mentioned) and enjoy.
