Holdyourseahorses
This is not a true tested pattern, it's just general directions and charts for the socks that I made based on Torirot's mittens “Selbuvott or not". I loved her mittens so much I asked if I could use her chart for socks, she graciously agreed. You can find her lovely mittens here on Ravelry.

Sock is worked cuff down. Sock shown used 115g (58g of each color) of sock yarn and was made with 2.5mm circular needles. Gauge was 9 stitches and 11 rows per 2.54cm. Sock made is 23 cm long and 19 circumference. Instructions are given for Magic Loop (2 circular needles). When there are two charts side by side, the right one is the front needle and the left one the back needle.
Abbreviations:
CC: contrasting color (orange on my socks) MC: main color (blue on my socks) K: knit K2TOG: knit two together P: purl P2TOG: purl two together SL: slip as if to purl SSK: slip one stitch as if to knit, slip the next stitch as if to knit and knit the two stitches together through the front leg
Key
Knit 2 together with MC Slip one stitch as if to knit, slip the next stitch as if to knit, knit the two together through the front loops Knit with MC on right side and purl with MC on wrong side Knit with CC on right side and purl with CC on wrong side With MC slip as if to knit on the right side and slip as if to purl on the wrong side
Cuff
With MC cast on 66 stitches. Do not join; cuff is worked in flat knitting, back and forth. Knit one row in MC, 2 rows in CC. With MC K3, then continue knit wise with MC twisting the right needle once counterclockwise around the edge of the cuff. Repeat this turn after every 3 stitches. You can find a better explanation of this technique here by Turtlegirl76. With MC, purl the next row increasing 8 stitches randomly and join to start working in the round (total of 74 stitches). Put 37 stitches on each needle. From now one the needles will be referred to as front/foot or back/sole needle. Work Cuff chart (twice) one per needle for 15 rows.

Heel
Move the first and the last stitch of the foot needle to the sole needle. You now have 35 stitches on the foot needle and 39 on the sole needle. Heel is worked in flat knitting following the chart for about 2.75" (approx. 30 rows) or desired length. End heel flap after row 2(wrong side row)

Heel Turn
1 MC only back and forth, cut CC leaving a 15 cm tail to be weaved in later Row 1: SL1, P21, P2tog, P1, turn Row 2: SL1, P6, P2tog, P1, turn Row 3: SL1, K7, K2tog, K1, turn Row 4: SL1, P8, P2tog, P1, turn Repeat Rows 3 and 4, increasing 1 additional K or P stitch after the SL1 until all side stitches are used. End with a wrong (purl)side row. You now have 23 stitches remaining. Cut MC leaving a 15 cm tail to be weaved in later.
Gusset decreases
With MC starting at the end beginning of the sole needle, pick up and knit one stitch for every loop on the side panel, knit across the heel stitches and pick up and knit one stitch for every selvage stitch on the other side. Reattach CC and work the first row for the foot chart. Move the first and last stitch of the sole needle to the instep needle so that you have 37 stitches on the instep needle and the rest on the back/sole needle. The sole stitches are worked in the following way, the Center 37 stitches (I put a marker on each side of those stitches) are worked in Sole chart pattern while the remaining Gusset side stitches are worked in pinstripe. Here's an exemple of what I mean. Work one row as per chart and one decrease row.

The gusset decreases are worked every other row while maintaining the pinstripe pattern. On decrease rows:K1MC then SSK in CC, knit the rest of the side pinstripe stitches in the color that they present themselves, knit the centre 37 stitches in sole pattern; then knit in pinstripe until the last ? stitches, K2TOG in CC and K1MC. Decrease every other row in this way until you have 37 stitches on each needle.

Toe:
Work the toe chart twice (once per needle). Graft stitches together with kitchener stitch and weave in all yarn ends. Join cuff (I used my starting yarn tail to close the cuff)
