Chelsea Campbell's Guide to Crocheted Cutie Marks
\*\*Use D hook for all cutie marks.
Rainbow Dash cutie mark:
Clouds: With white yarn, make 2 sets of clouds: Make a magic ring. Then ch 1 and sc 6 into the ring. Pull the tail yarn tight to close up the circle. Sl st to join with first st, ch 3, sc 6 in second ch from hook, sl st to join the circle, fasten off. Lightning: Make one in the sequence red, yellow, blue. Make second lightning in the opposite order, blue, yellow, red.
ch 6, fasten off attach 2"d color, ch 1, sc 1, sl st to last st, fasten off repeat previous row for 3rd color Weave in all ends and sew lightnings to flanks with red side facing in, towards the head. Then sew the clouds over top of them.
Pinkie Pie cutie mark:
Make 4 blue balloons, 2 yellow: sc 5 in magic circle, pull tight and sl st to join last stitch with first st, ch 2, fasten off.
\*Note that the ch 2 forms the tail of the balloon. I sew the yellow balloon on first, then the blue balloons on either side of it.
Fluttershy cutie mark:
With pink, make 6 butterflies: ch 3, sl st into 1st ch to join, ch 4, sl st into 4h ch from hook, sl st to join both halves together.
Sew butterflies onto flanks, then embroider on butterfly middles using blue yarn.
Applejack cutie mark:
With red, make 6 apples Make magic ring, ch 1, and sc 4 into ring, sl st into ring (do not join!). Sew apples to flanks and embroider stems with green yarn.
Twilight Sparkle cutie mark:
With pink yarn, embroider six pointed star to flank. With white yarn, embroider five dots/stars around the pink star.
Rarity cutie mark:
With light blue, make 6 diamonds: ch3 starting in 2"d ch from hook, hdc 2, sl st into same st, fasten Off.
Vinyl Scratch cutie mark:
With black, make 4 music notes: Make magic ring, ch 1, sc 4 into ring, pull tight, sl st to join, ch3 \*Note that the ch 3 of the last section forms the stems of the music notes. With black, make 2 bars: ch 3
Sew music notes to flanks, then sew the bars over top to connect them.
Big Macintosh cutie mark:
With light green yarn, make 2 apples: Make a magic ring, ch 1, sc 6 into ring and pull tight to close. Hdc 2 in 1 around (12 stitches total), sl st to join round, fasten off Flip over (the back of the work will be the facing out side). Use brown yarn and sew on apple seeds, use dark green yarn and sew on line/stem, then sew apples to flanks.
Princess Cadance's cutie mark:
With light blue, make 2 hearts: ch 1, hdc 1 in ch, ch 1, turn hdc 2, ch 2, turn hdc 1, sl st in same st, sl st, hdc 1, sl st along side, fasten off Sew hearts onto flanks. With yellow yarn, crochet small chains and sew them onto flanks to form the gold filigree bits
Shining Armor's cutie mark:
With dark blue yarn, make 2 shields: ch6 starting in 2"d ch from hook, hdc 5, ch1, turn hdc 2 together, hdc 1, ch 1, turn hdc 2 together, fasten off With pink yarn, embroider six pointed star shape onto the shields, then sew shields to flanks (or, alternately, you can sew the shields down first, then embroider the stars, whichever works best for you). With light blue yarn, embroider three dots above shields to make the tiny stars.
Soarin's Cutie Mark:
With yellow, make 2 lightning bolts: ch3 starting in 2nd ch from hook, hdc 2 ch 1, hdc 2 tog, fasten off With whie yarn, make 4 wings: ch 4 starting in 2"d ch from hook, hdc 1, sc 1, sl st, fasten off
Sew lightning bolts onto flanks, then sew wings onto the top edges of the bolts.
