Roll the dice - Team Starkid Style
Some day in November 2013 I stood in front of my DVD and BluRay collection with a problem: Out of my favorite shows, which one should I watch? I had no clue and decided to make some kind of “decision helper", I'm a crafter, so this should be easy. Quite quickly the inspiration fairy hit and one word made its way out of my mouth: Dice! I knew that I didn't want the thing to be too big, 30x30 stitches had to be enough and I chose to knit the thing. So I fired up my fancy chart design tool (... well, I clicked on the Excel icon...) and started thinking of symbols, that stand for shows, superheros, characters, fractions...the next days, I made up enough charts for 8 or 9 dice of different topics: DC Superheros (Wonder Woman, The Flash, Green Lantern, Superman, Batman, Martian Manhunter) Marvel Avenger Characters (Hulk, Iron Man, Black Widow/Hawkeye, Captain America, Thor, Loki - yeah, I wanted Loki, so Clintasha have to share a side, I don't think they mind) TV Shows (Sherlock, Dr Who, Star Trek, Babylon 5, Supernatural, Firefly) Movie Franchises (Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Potter, Bond, Alien, Hunger Games) Starkid Productions (AVPM, AVPS, B@man, Starship, MAMD) Star Wars Symbols (Empire, Rebellion, Jedi, Sith, Mandos, Seps) my fav Books (In the making) you see, some of them are not "decision helpers" but just for fun. Since I published the last version, I didn't really have time to knit. Almost half a year, where I didn't get anything done. It is crafting hell, I can tell you! Anyways: I was asked about the Starkid patterns and I will (reluctantly) publish them here. Please note: They are NOT tested! I have NO IDEA how they will look like when finished. And to top that off, when I designed them, I stopped after 6 sides... I wanted to do so much more, but well... life happened. So please enjoy, knit at your own risk, and please let me know if anything needs to be changed or simply doesn'tworkat all. The 6 patterns are: A Very Potter Musical, represented by the blue headband, Quirrelmort and the scar Me And My Dick, represented by the Dickhat and the hearts Holy Musical B@man, represented by the B@logo and the candycane A Very Potter Musical (yeah, again, sorry), represented by the homemade dark mark Starship, represented by the moustache and Bug's antennae A Very Potter Sequel, represented by Umbridge, a redvine and Hermione's time turner Twisted is not in, because it was not released when I made those.
