Lamb's Pride Worsted MC Sandy Heather $=114$ yd (2.4 oz) Band Colors: Brown Heather, Bear Brown 9.5 yds (.2 oz) , Creme 4.75 yds (.1 oz).
The Hat
For a $23"$ circumference, I did a Cabled Cast on of 100 Stitches. Being careful not to twist the work, join ends to knit in the round.
Ribbing
In order to make a turned brim knit a k2 p2 ribbing for $4"$ in the main color.
Contrasting Band
Change to Brown Heather and knit 2 rounds. Using the Brown heather, Bear Brown and Creme, work the charted design. Finish off design band with 2 rounds of Brown heather/ Note: you can create your own design, add or remove the necessary stitches for the design repeat, and them remove/add them back before finishing the crown!
The Crown
Switch back to the main color (Sandy Heather) and knit until piece is 8 inches.
Begin decrease for crowi k8 k2tog, knit 1 round k7 k2tog, knit 1 round k6 k2tog, knit 1 round k5 k2tog, knit 1 round k4 k2tog, knit 1 round k3 k2tog, knit 1 round k2 k2tog, knit 1 round k1 k2tog, knit 1 round
Finishing
Pull the end through the remaining stitches and gather the rest of crown together. Weave in the end. Now put it on and go for a walk!
