Finished Size: $18^{\circ}$ head circumference, willstretch comfortably to fit up to $20^{\circ}$ Yarn: Malabrigo Worsted (1 skein Stone Blue, 1 skein Natural) Substitution: Any aran-weight wool, preferably merino. Note: The Malabrigo yarn provides more than enougb yarn for at least two of tbese bats, and you will be using very little of thbe wbite. I suggest using the leftover yarn in one or two other small projects. Hook: Size I/9 (5.5 mm), or size to obtain gauge Gauge: 12 dc and $\mathrm{9\rows}=4^{\circ}$ In main color:

On R8 and R11, work allst in the back loop only. Bind off. In contrasting color: Your bat should bave two ridges running between R7 and R8, and between R10 and R11. These are the remaining loops from working in the back loop onb, and we are going to work the contrasting color- the "snow' - directly onto these loops, and also onto the bottom of the bat as an extra round. Join yarn at any “peak”’ of one of the ridges. The “peak" is the center st of any of the 3 dc bundles. I started at the top of the ch 3 at the beginning of the round, so that allthe joins would be in the same place. Sc evenly across, with 2 sc in each “peak" - 72 st total. Ss in first st to join and bind off. Repeat for the second ridge, and at the bottom of the hat. For the bottom of the hat, you can work through both loops as usual. With contrasting color, create a $1^{\circ}$ Or $2^{\circ}$ pompom, attach at top center of hat by pulling the tails of the pompom through the stitches of R1 and tying together on the inside of the hat. Weave in alloose ends. Blocking is optional.
