Keeping it Cool
Summer Sock by Emer Thornbury

Introduction:
This is a summer ankle sock with two lacey panels, a cable down the centre and a picot bind off. It is knitted from the toe up, using Judy's Magic Cast On, on circular needle. Foot length is variable. Personally I knit them two at a time (TAAT), on a 1o0cm circular needle. If you are experienced, use the heel of your choice, otherwise the instructions for a short row heel using shadow wraps are provided.
Size and a note on fitting a sock:
Ladies M/L. Knit over 54 sts with stretchy pattern. To get a good fit in a sock it needs negative ease. This means you make it shorter than your actual foot length. My foot length is 10 inches long and I make my socks around 9 1%4 inches long. It should have negative ease in the width also. This sock has the stretchy lace panels which willfit a range of widths.
Gauge:
7 %2 stitches and 10 rows to 1 inch.
Needle Size:
2.25mm, U.s. 1, Imperial 13. Or size needed to achieve gauge.
Yarn:
A sock yarn with a recommended needle size of 2.25 - 3.25mm. U.s. 1-3. American Craft Yarn Council Standard Weight System category: 1 - Superfine. I used Garnstudio Fabel. 195 meters made the pair.
Notions:
Sewing needle, stitch marker.
