McKinley's Summer Visor Trio

Size Chart:
Size 1: 6-12 months Size 2: 1-2 years Size 3: 3 years-small adult Size 4: large adult The sizes will be written in the pattern as follows: 1 (2, 3, 4)
Supplies:
Size G (4.25MM) crochet hook Size H (5 MM) crochet hook 50 grams worsted weight yarn per visor (I use $100\%$ cotton yarn) Tapestry needle 50 inch length of ribbon for Visor 1 Gauge: 8 stitches and $7\,\mathrm{rows}=2$ inches in half double crochet with G Hook
Notes:
· The crochet stitches are worked under both top threads. ?You may find knitting and crochet instructions on the internet. I only provide the stitch abbreviations for you, plus a special stitch instruction for the fpdtc.
Abbreviations:
Chain (ch), Slip Stitch (sl st), Single Crochet (sc), Double Crochet (dc), Half Double Crochet (hdc), stitch (st), stitches (sts), yarn over (yo) and Front Post Double Treble Crochet (fpdtc).
Special Stitch Instructions:
FPDTC-to do the front post double treble crochet, yo 4 times, insert hook from front to back around post st indicated, yo and pull up a loop, and complete double treble crochet. Detailed pictures are provided when this stitch is introduced into the pattern.
Visor 1

Foundation: using the H hook-ch 56 (64, 72, 80) join with sl st in first ch to make a ring being careful not to twist. Round 1: ch1, sc in each chain around, join to the ch1 space with a sl St. Rounds 2, 4, and 5: ch1, sc in each stitch around, join to the ch1 space with a sl st. Round 3: \*skip the first st, dc in next st, dc in stitch that was skipped (cross double crochet), repeat from \*to the end of round, join with a sl st to the first cross double crochet.
After round 5, move on to brim and edge instructions (at the end of the pattern).
To Finish: Cut yarn and fasten off. Weave in the ends with a tapestry needle. Using the length of ribbon, start at the back of the visor and weave the ribbon through the cross double crochets. Tie in a bow in the back to stay snug on the head.
Visor 2

Foundation: using the H hook-ch 56 (64, 72, 80) join with sl st in first st to make a ring being careful not to twist. Round 1: switch to the G Hook, ch2, hdc in each ch around, join to the ch2 space with a sl st. Rounds 2-4: ch2, hdc in each stitch around, join to the ch2 space with a sl St. After round 4, move on to brim and edge instructions (at the end of the pattern).
Ruffle Instructions:
Top Ruffle: with the right side of the visor facing, join the yarn into a stitch towards the back. $\ast\mathrm{{Ch4}}$ , skip 1 st, sl st into the stitch after the skipped st, repeat from \* around. Bottom Ruffle: with the right side of the visor facing, upside down, join the yarn into the first stitch to the left of the brim, $\ast\mathrm{Ch4}$ , skip 1 st, sl st into the stitch after the skipped st, repeat from \* until you reach the other side of the brim. To Finish: Cut yarn and fasten off. Weave in the ends with a tapestry needle.
Visor 3

Foundation: using the H hook-ch 56 (64, 72, 80) join with sl st in first st to make a ring being careful not to twist. Round 1: switch to the G hook, ch1, sc in each ch around, join to the ch1 space with a sl st. Rounds 2-6: ch1, sc in each stitch around, join to the ch1 space with a sl St. Round 7: switch to the H hook, ch1, $^\ast_{\mathrm{SC}}$ in the next 4 sts, fpdtc in $4^{\mathrm{th}}$ stitch to the left and $5^{\mathrm{th}}$ row down, sc in the next 3 sts, fpdtc in the $4^{\mathrm{th}}$ stitch to the right and $5^{\mathrm{th}}$ row down. Repeat from \* around. See the following pictures with instructions.
After round 7, move on to brim and edge instructions (at the end of the pattern).
To Finish: Cut yarn and fasten off. Weave in the ends with a tapestry needle. Lightly press the visor as the X may curl it.

Brim Instructions:
Use Size H hook for Visor 1 and Size G hook for Visors 2 and 3
Sizes 1-2:
Row 1: Ch1, sc 26 sts, turn Row 2: sl st across, turn Row 3: sc through rows 1 and 2 (through the sc and sl st) turn Row 4: sl st across, turn Row 5: sc through the previous 2 rows (through the sc and sl st) turn Row 6: sl st across, turn Row 7: sc through the previous 2 rows, DO NOT TURN. FINAL EDGING ROUND: Row 10: sc down the left edge of the brim, continue to sc evenly around the entire back edge of the hat, continue to sc up the right side and across the front of the brim end with a slip stitch into the first sc of this round. Fasten off . Try not to crochet the last round too tightly as it will not have enough give around the head. Sizes 3-4: Row 1: Ch1, sc 30 sts, turn Row 2: sl st across, turn Row 3: sc through rows 1 and 2 (through the sc and sl st) turn Row 4: sl st across, turn Row 5: sc through the previous 2 rows (through the sc and sl st) turn Row 6: sl st across, turn Row 7: sc through the previous 2 rows, turn Row 8: sl st across, turn Row 9: sc through the previous 2 rows, DO NOT TURN.
