Supplies: 1 skein Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sock yarn Size 1 DPNS Stitch Marker Tapestry Needle With #1 DPNs, cast on 66 sts. Arrange among three needles, 22 sts on each needle. Join for rnd, place marker. Row 1 - \*k1, sl 1 st as if to purl, repeat from \*. Row 2 - \*sl 1 sts as if to purl, p1, repeat from \*. Row 3 - \*k1, p1, repeat from \*. Work row 3 for 10 rnds. Knit 2 rnds even, then begin heel flap as follows: Row 1 - \*sl 1, k1 across 33 sts, ending with k2. Row 2 - sl 1, p32. Repeat rows 1 & 2 16 times. Shape heel: Row 1 - Sl 1, k19, ssk, k1, turn. 10 sts remain unworked. Row 2 - Sl 1, p8, p2tog, p1, turn. 10 sts remain unworked. Row 3 - Sl 1, k to within 1 st of the gap, ssk, k1, turn. Row 4 - Sl 1, p to within 1 st of the gap, p2tog, p1, turn. Repeat rows 3 & 4 til all heel sts are worked - 21 heel sts. K across heel sts and, with the same needle (needle #1), pick up 17 sts along heel flap. K across 33 instep sts with empty needle (needle #2). With empty needle (needle #3), pick up 17 sts along heel flap and then k 10 sts from heel. This marks the new beginning of rnd. K 2 rnds even. Begin working in pattern below. AT THE SAME TIME, work gusset decreases on odd rows of pattern until 66 sts remain. Gusset decrease row (work odd rows): K to last 3 sts of needle #1, ssk, k1. K across instep sts on needle #2. K1, k2tog, k to end of needle #3. Pattern for instep sts on needle #2 (k all sts on needles #1 & #3): Rnd 1 and all odd rnds: K all sts. Rnds 2, 4, 6, & 8: k7, [yo, k3, sl 1, k2tog, psso, k3, yo, k1] two times, k6. Rnds 10, 12, 14,& 16: k6, k2tog, k3, yo, k1, yo, k3, sl 1, k2tog, psso, k3, yo, k1, yo, k3, sl1, k1, psso, k6. Work rnds 1-16 three times total, then work rnds 1-8. Begin toe shaping: Decrease rnd 1 - \*k4, k2tog, repeat from \*. K 4 rnds even. Decrease rnd 2 - \*k3, k2tog, repeat from \*. K 3 rnds even. Decrease rnd 3 - \*k2, k2tog, repeat from \*. K 2 rnds even. Decrease rnd 4 - \*K1, k2tog, repeat from \*. K 1 rnd even. Decrease rnd 5 - \*k2tog, repeat from \*. Decrease rnd 6 - \*k2tog, repeat from \*, ending with k1. Break yarn and thread through remaining sts. Weave in ends and block.
