Feeling the yarn Ade, looking at its nuances and its golden lurex thre ad, I immediately felt it around my neck. I imagined to have it gently wrapped in warm merino wool, at the same time being able not to hide my necklace under a scarf; so why not make a scarf that's also a necklace, or a necklace that's also a scarf! So that if I'm feeling cold, I can incorporate it into my outfit as an ac cessory that keeps me warm without making me look like a clumsy snowman! MATERIALS:
- 2,5 mm crochet hook - Ade by Borgo de' Pazzi (2 100 g skeins, 95% merino superwash - 5% lurex, shown in colour n. 6 e 7) - Luxor by Borgo de' Pazzi (1 25 g skein, 100% lurex, shown in colour: golden) - Tape measure - Tapestry needle ABBREVIATIONS: {crochet terms are in British English} - ch: chain - st: stitch(es) - dc: double crochet (AmE: single crochet)
GAUGE:
For this project gauge is not essential. You only need to make sure that the double crochet rings are tight and regular. If they are too loose, use a smaller size hook, if they are too tight, use a bigger size hook.
MEASUREMENTS AND COMPONENTS
The Loop necklaces and bracelets are worked cutting longer or shorter pieces of the tubular yarn Ade, joining them together with a tapestry needle and decorating them with golden rings. In the rnd 22: ch 2, 1 ps in same stitch, ch 1, 1 ps in same stitch, \* skip 2 stiend of rnd. Close rnd with 1 ss on first ps of rnd. A piece of advice!I strongly advise against just giving a clean and sharp cut to the tubular yarn with scissors. Instead, I suggest you only cut one strand of yarn in the tubular and then gently unravel one or two rounds. With the yarn that you unravelled you can make a neat and tidy finishing by sewing together the two ends of the tubular.
LOOP NECKLACE WITH RINGS. INSTRUCTIONS:
Cut 510 cm of Ade (tubular yarn). With a piece of scrap yarn (in a contrasting colour) or pins mark 90 cm 3 times and 120 cm twice. This will make the next step easier for you. Working on a table to prevent the yarn from twisting and ravelling, wind up the tubular yarn in two 120-cm loops and three 90-cm loops. Join the two ends (at the point that will be the back of the neck) and sew the 5 loops together in that same spot so that the necklace will stay in shape when we wear it. Work 3 strings with Luxor as follows: Row 1: ch11, starting from second chain from hook work 10 dc, turn work Leave a tail of about 20 cm and cut yarn. To attach golden rings: wrap two loops with the string you just made, match the first and the last rows then sew them together to close up ring.
LOOP BRACELET. INSTRUCTIONS:
Cut 20/22 cm of Ade (tubular yarn). Wind it up in a loop, being careful to avoid twisting it. Sew the two ends together with the yarn that you unravelled from the tubular (see Measurements and components section) Work one string with Luxor as follows: Row 1: ch17, starting from second chain from hook work 16 dc, turn work Rows 2 - 8: ch1, 16 dc, turn work Leave a tail of about 20 cm and cut yarn. Place the golden string where you previously joined the tubular yarn ends together, wrap it around it and sew ends together.
