Adult Elf Hat for the CSM By Melinda Breede
Materials: Size 72 or 80 cylinder Sock weight yarn in 3 colors (I used Knit Picks Stroll)
Start:
Have all needles in cylinder and down in work. Turn your tension to the LOwEST possible tension (making the largest possible stitches) NOTE: with the tension so low, your weights will approach the floor fast- keep an eye on them!
Pattern:
Cast on with waste yarn, switch to sock yarn. Knit 40 rows in your Main Color (MC) Hang your hem Switch to Second Color (SC) Knit 20 rows Switch to Third Color (TC) Knit 20 rows

You have completed 60 rows, one hem and one stripe of each alternating color. This makes up the body of your hat. The rest of the stripes will get smaller by ONLY adjusting your tension. \*TURN TENSION UP % a notch, Knit 10 rows in MC TURN TENSION UP % a notch, Knit 10 rows in MC TURN TENSION UP % a notch, Knit 10 rows in SC TURN TENSION UP % a notch, Knit 10 rows in SC TURN TENSION UP % a notch, Knit 10 rows in TC TURN TENSION UP % a notch, Knit 10 rows in TC\* Repeat between \* 1x more (total of 3 stripes of each color) Leaving long (24") tail, cut yarn. Cast off in waste yarn. Using a needle, draw tail through live stitches twice, pull tight. Remove waste yarn
