Size: 0-3 months (3-6 months) Gauge: 5.5 sts.= 1" Yarn: approximately 150 yards of DK weight yarn Needles: US 4 double pointed needles, US 4 - 16" circular for cap Notions: darning needle, 3 stitch markers for booties Glossary: M1R= make one right (right leaning increase) M1L= make one left (left leaning increase) K2tog = knit 2 stitches together

Booties:
Cast on 28 (32) stitches on DPNs and join to work in the round, careful not to twist.
Begin mock cable ribbing:
Round 1: Knit 2, Purl 2 around Round 2: same as round one, hereafter abbreviated as K2, P2 Round 3: K2tog, keeping the stitches on the left hand needle. Knit into the first stitch again, then slip both stitches off the needle together, P2; repeat around Round 4: K2, P2 around Repeat these four rounds 4 (5) more times. Then knit one round, placing marker at the end of the round. If making the larger size, place the marker right before last stitch (in between the last 2 purl stitches). On next row, begin shaping for top of foot: (You can redistribute stitches as needed to make it comfortable as the stitches increase.) Round 1: K12 (13), M1R, place a marker, K4 (6), place a marker, M1L, K12 (13) Round 2: K13 (14), M1R, K4 (6), M1L, K13 (14) Round 3: K14 (15), M1R, K4 (6), M1L, K14 (15) Round 4: K15 (16), M1R, K4 (6), M1L, K15 (16) Round 4: K16 (17), M1R, K4 (6), M1L, K16 (17) Round 5: K17 (18), M1R, K4 (6), M1L, K17 (18) (40 sts: 0-3 size, 44 sts: 3-6 months) Round; 6 larger size only: K19, M1R, K6, M1L, K19 Round: 7 larger size only: K20, M1R, K6, M1L, K20 (48 sts.) Begin garter ridge foot: (You can take the 2 fronts markers off now, but leave the "beginning" marker in place.) Row 1: Knit one round Row 2: Purl one round Repeat these two rounds 4 (5) more times. There will be 5 (6) garter ridges. Knit one round Divide stitches evenly on two needles: 20 (24) stitches per needle, using the beginning marker as the dividing line. Turn inside out and bind off using a three needle bind-off. Weave in ends. Gently block, allowing angora to bloom.
Cap:
ove the stitches around the circular needle after you knit a Cast on 72 (80) sts. Connect, careful not to twist. Knit the 4 round mock cable ribbing once. Continue just knitting every round until piece measures 3 %" (5") from the beginning. Begin crown decrease as follows and change to double point needles when necessary: Round 1: Knit 7 (8) sts, knit 2 stitches together, repeat to end of round Rounds 2 and 3: Knit Round 4: Knit 6 (7) sts, knit 2 stitches together, repeat to end of round Rounds 5 and 6: Knit Round 7: Knit 5 (6) sts, knit 2 stitches together, repeat to end of round Round 8: Knit Round 9: Knit 4 (5) sts, knit 2 stitches together, repeat to end of round Round 10: Knit Round 11; Knit 3 (4) sts, knit 2 stitches together, repeat to end of round Round 12: Knit 2 (3) sts, knit 2 stitches together, repeat to end of round Round 13: Knit 1 (2) sts, knit 2 stitches together, repeat to end of round Round 14: (small size only) Knit 2 stitches together around. Cut yarn leaving a 6" tail. Using a darning needle, weave yarn through remaining stitches on needle in order. Pull, and secure to underneath of cap. Rounds 14 and 15: (larger size only) Knit 1 stitch, knit 2 stitches together, repeat to end of round. Then knit 2 stitches together around and finish as for the smaller size. Gently block, allowing angora to bloom.
