I began playing around with traditional "Feather and Fan" stitchez and found that this combination creates an accidental - yet lovely- spiral.

Yarn8: Approx. 160 yds ofWorsted weight or 120 ydz of chunky weight yarn. Suggestedyarns: Worsted weight (1) skein ofMalabrigo worsted Or for (Chunky wt.) (1) skeinof Cascade 128 Recommended Tools: For Worsted: Size 9 (5.5 mm) 16" circular needles. And 7 stitch markers For Chunky: size 10.5 (6.5mm) 16" circular needlez. And 6 stitch markers Or size needed to obtain gauge I also recommend the 1\* marker be different to markthe beginning of the round az the markers shift and spiral. Gauge: Worsted weight -17 sts & 28 rows per 4 "inpattern. Chunky weight - 14sts & 20 rows per 4" in pattern. Gauge is unblocked. Size: Wil fit the average neck nicely. Finishedpiece: 20" circumference & 7" tall unblocked. Lace pattern: Multiple of 12 sty. Round 1: Knit all sty. Round 2: k2tog, (4x) then (yo, K1 ) (4x) totheend. Round 3: Purl all sty. Round 4: Knit all sty. AnAccidental cowl Instructions are given for worsted and (chunky) wt. yarns. Cast on 84(72) sts and join for working inthe round, being careful not to-twist stitchez. Place the different marker (pm) to indicate the 1s stitch. K12, \*(pm, K12,) untilthe end of round. You wili have 7 (6) groups of 12 stitches for 7(6) pattern repeaty. Knit1round Purl1round Then Beginlace pattern Continve the 4 round lace pattern until it iz as tall as you like or until almost all yarn has been used, ending after the 4tr round. Bind off loosely.
