Gauge
rows = 4” in non-stranded stockinette, blo Notes: The yarn I chose was yarn that I already had. Feel free to make your own yarn color and yarn type (fingering weight) choices. Some of the pattern is charted. The colors used from chart to chart are not consistent. The quote on the hat is taken from the main stairway in Atlantis. I chose a section of the quote with the “right'" number of letters. The glyphs are the address for Atlantis from Earth.
Directions
The hat is worked in the round from the hat band up. Inside of Band With CC1, cast on 128 sts onto each of two needles (a main size 3 needle and a spare needle) - using a provisional cast on. Join to knit in the round. Place marker at beginning of round. Knit 10 rounds. (128 sts per round) Purl 1 round as a turning rnd. Outside of Band Knit 3 rounds (in CC1). Attach CC2. Work Wave pattern as follows: Wave Rnd 1: (K2 in CC1, K1 in CC2, K1 in CC1) to end. Rnd 2: (K1 in CC1, K3 in CC2) to end. Break CC1. Attach MC. Rnd 3: (K2 in CC2, K1 in MC, K1 in CC2) to end. Rnd 4: (K1 in CC2, K3 in MC) to end. Break CC2. Knit 3 rounds in MC. Weave in loose ends and then finish band by knitting together 1 st from last rnd with 1 st from the spare needle around (as in a 3-needle bind off, without the binding off)
Main part of hat
Knit 1 rnd in MC, increasing evenly from 128 to 130 sts. Then work the Darts and Jumpers pattern as charted (5 pattern repeats around): (The squares in orange are CC3, those in yellow are CC4, those in white are MC.)

Knit around in MC 3 times. Start the first glyphs/ancient.symbols chart. The squares in blue are worked in CC2, the rest in MC.

K around in MC 3 times. Work next glyph/ancient chart. Note the decreases () in the first rnd of the chart. Next Rnd: K around in MC. Next Rnd: In MC, K57, K2tog, K to end. 126 sts K around in MC for 5 rnds (or to desired height before crown shaping).

Crown Begin Atlantis decrease chart (with yellow as MC, blue CC2, light blue CC1, gray CC5, / as k2tog, and \as ssk), working the chart 6 times around. (You may wish to place markers every 21 sts before beginning the chart.)

Break CC1. Using only CC5, Rnd 19: (SSK, K5, K2tog) 6x. Rnd 20: K around. Rnd 21: (SSK, K3, K2tog) 6x. Rnd 22: (SSK, K1, K2tog) 6x. Rnd 23: K2tog around. 9 sts
Finishing
To finish, pull CC5 through the loops at the top of the hat. Weave in ends, wash and block.
