ACCORDION FLUFFY SCARF

I was inspired to this scarf after laying hands on a couple of skeins of Rowan Angora Haze received through an online order. For a good, good handful of minutes, I felt the strongest of urges to squish and pet the yarn while doing a vocal rendition of the little girl's enthusiastic It's so fluffy! scene from Despicable Me — because it really is; so; fluffy. I'd known for a while that I wanted a ribbed scarf that wasn't a ribbed scarf, something with a little bit of zest to it. On a whim, I decided to try out textures with the Angora Haze — though really you always want to test what you're working with, as a prior and most unfortunate experience with cables and mohair yarn had illustrated for me in vivid lack of detail. This particular rib stitch works a treat with the consistency of the Rowan blend. The pattern stands out, the stitches work up quickly and evenly, and the inevitable cloud of fluff haze is really quite manageable. This won't be the kind of scarf that one wears in oversized mode to cover up the nose and mouth — and not just because that would be an acute case of respiratory distress waiting to happen — but it is a warm and decadently soft accessory in which to wrap the neck.

PATTERN
Cast on 64 stitches using the cable method. This number of stitches comprises an allowance for two edge stitches at either side of the pattern. These stitches will be designated by an italicised e below; they are to be slipped knitwise with the yarn in front at the beginning of a row, and knit at the end of a row. The pattern consists of 24 rows as follows:

Repeat these 24 rows until you've worked a total of 16 SETs. Then, work rows 1-6 once more, and loosely bind off in pattern on the 7th right-side row. To finish, weave in ends, then block by soaking in cool water for 20 minutes then pinning into shape.
