Materials
Half a ball (25g) Novita Florica $(175\mathrm{m}/50\mathrm{g}.$ $100\%$ superwash wool) DPNs, $3{,}5\;\mathrm{mm}$ or the size you get the right gauge with Gauge 29 sts and $40\,\mathrm{rows}=10\,\mathrm{cm}\,\mathrm{St}$ st Size Circumference of hand above thumb 18cm Measurements Circumference of mitt above thumb 17cm

Abbreviations $\mathbf{m}1=$ increase by picking up the strand between the sts you just knit and the next sts and knitting it twisted.
Stitch patterns
Moss stitch
1st row $^{*}\mathrm{kl}\;\mathrm{pl}$ , repeat from \* 2nd row $*_{\mathrm{p}1\,\mathrm{k}1}$ , repeat from \* Repeat these 2 rows.
Leaf lace

The lace pattern is 18 sts wide and one repeat is 12 rows. It has been adapted from Trellis Shell Pattern of Vogue Dictionary of Knitting Stitches.
Pattern
Left mitt
Cast on 40 sts. Divide sts to three DPNs so that first needle has 18 sts, second 10 sts and third 12 sts. Start knitting in the round, being carefull that the knitting doesn't twist. Knit moss stitch for 3 rows. Start knitting leaf lace according to the chart on first needle. Knit stockinette on the other two needles. At the row you knit the second row of the lace chart, start the thumb gusset.
Thumb gusset
The thumb gusset of the left mitt will be at the start of the second needle. Continue with the lace chart on needle 1 and stockinette on needle 3. On the second needle, k2, m1, kl, m1, knit to the end of the needle. Continue increases avery fourth row so that there willalways be 2 more sts between the increases than the last time. Continue until there are 11 sts in the thumb gusset (9 between the last incs). Knit 6 rows even, ending at the row you knit the last row of the chart the second time. On the next row, take the 11 sts of the thumb gusset on a piece of waste yarn. Increase one st in their place by doing a yarnover. Knit the yarnover twisted on the next row. Continue the lace chart on needle 1 and stockinette on the rest for 18 more rows. The last row should be row 7 of the chart. Knit 2 rows of moss stitch and cast of.
Right mitt
Cast on 40 sts. Divide sts to three needles so that first needle has 12 sts, second 10 sts and third 18 sts (the st counts are opposite to the left mitt). Start knitting in the round, being carefull that the knitting doesn't twist. Knit 4 rows of moss stitch Start knitting stockinette on first and second needle and leaf lace accoring to the chart on the third. Start the thumb gusset on the second row.
Thumb gusset
The thumb gusset in the right mitt will be at the end of the second needle. Continue with stockinette on the first and leaf lace on the third needle. On the second needle, k7, m1, k1, m1, k2. Continue increasing on every fourth row so that there will always be 2 more sts between the incs than the last time. Continue until there are 11 sts in the thumb gusset (9 between the last incs). Knit 6 rows even, ending at the row you knit the last row of the chart the second time. On the next row, take the 11 sts of the thumb gusset on a piece of waste yarn. Increase one st in their place by doing a yarnover. Knit the yarnover twisted on the next row. Continue in stockinette on needles 1 and 2 and leaf lace on needle 3 for 18 more rows. The last row should be the row 7 of the lace chart. Knit 2 rows of moss stitch and cast off.
Thumbs
Take the 11 sts from the waste yarn and pick up and knit 4 sts from the upper edge of the thumb hole. Knit the last st of the first row together with the first st of the row. Knit 3 rows stockinette and 2 rows moss stitch. Cast off. Repeat to the other thumb.
Finishing
Weave in ends. Soak the mitts squeeze most of the water out, stretch the mitts to shape and dry flat on a towel.
