Facade Socks

Pattern illustration

These socks are knit with different patterns on the front and back. The front is a decorative lace pattern while the back uses a portion of it to create a lacy rib. Available in women's medium and large sizes, they are worked cuffdown and have a flap heel with eye of partridge following the back leg pattern. The pattern has both charted and written directions and is written to be needle neutral. The important points - beginning of round, gusset decreases - can be marked with markers or new needles, depending on your preferred sock-knitting method.

Note: The cuff has different patterns on the front and back to complement the leg patterns. Cast on 64 sts. Arrange the sts in multiples of 16 per needle. The first 32 sts will be the front of the leg and the last 32 will be the back. Join without twisting and mark beginning of round. Work the cuff chart (charts on page 3) as follows: Round 1 front 32 sts: work the first 4 sts of the chart to the first repeat (shown in green), work that repeat 5 times and then work the next 3 sts of the chart. Round 1 back 32 sts: work the second repeat (shown in red) 4 times. Work this round 16 times.
