Hallgrimskirkja\*
designed by libby blossom

\*When I graduated from high school my mother, grandmother and I took a trip to Ireland. On the way over we stopped in Iceland for three days and had the chance to do a couple of quick tours of the country.A few characteristics of the country really stood out; the amazing naturescape, the sturdy Icelandic ponies, and the amazing church architecture. The verticality and repetitive nature of the facade of Hallgrimskirkja, designed by Guoj6n Samuelsson, is said to resemble the lava flows found throughout the country. The rhythm of the vertical edges creates an everchanging interplay of light and shadow throughout the day and across the seasons. The Hallgrimskirkja cowl is designed to display the similar transforming nature of Alchemy's Tweedy. The flowing handdyed color ways twist between between unique shadowy fibers and create a simple, vertical cowl with dynamic expression.
