Materials
DK or sport weight wool $\tt{112m}$ $1\times509\Gamma$ ball. Pair of 3.5mm (US 4) needles Stitch markers, not essential but maybe helpful. 2 buttons - I selected flat buttons small enough to fit through the knitted fabric to give an adjustable fit. Gauge 20sts and $28\mathsf{r o w s}\,=\,10\mathsf{c m}$ in pattern.
Abbreviations
yo yarn over K2tog knit 2 together K2togtbl knit 2 together through the back of loop m1 make 1 by picking up the strand between the stitch you have just knitted and the next one, and knit through the back of loop. pm place marker sm slip marker Please note that this pattern has a variable number of stitches. Most stitch counts are given after completing a WS row, except on the neck shaping and at the points.
Back
With 3.5mm needles, cast on 41sts using the cable cast on method. Work 6 rows moss/seed stitch as follows: k1, p1 repeat to end of row and finish with k1. Now work in pattern: Row 1: (Rs) k2, (k1,yo, k1)repeat up to last 3 sts.k1, k2. Row 2: (Ws) k2, p1, (p3, pass the 1st stitch over the other 2sts.)repeat up to last 2 sts., k2. Row 3: (RS) k2, m1, yo, k1 (k1,yo, k1)repeat up to last 2 sts., m1, k2. Row 4: (Ws) k2, p1, (p3, pass the 1st stitch over the other 2sts.)repeat up to last 2 sts., k2. Repeat rows 3 and 4 until you have increased to 69 sts., ending with a wS row. For the Neck: Row 1: (RS) k3, (k1, yo, k1) 11 times, pm, work 19sts moss st. pm, k1 (k1, yo, k1) 11times k2. Left Front
(WS) k2, p1, (p3, pass the 1st stitch over the other 2sts.) 11 times, remove marker, k2. (27sts.) Now decrease at the neck edge as follows: Row 1(RS) k2, k2togtbl, yo, k1, (k1, yo, k1) repeat up to last 2 sts. k2 Row 2(ws) k2, (p3, pass the 1st stitch over the other 2sts.) repeat up to last 2sts, k2. Row 3(Rs) k2, k2togtbl, yo, k1, (k1, yo, k1) repeat up to last 3 sts. k3 Row 4(WS) k2, p1 (p3, pass the 1st stitch over the other 2sts.) repeat up to last 2 sts., k2 Work rows 1-4 until you are left with 7sts. Finishing
Make button loops using the tails at the ends of the fronts. Loop the yarn over your finger, anchor it in place and cover the loop with blanket/buttonhole stitch. Weave in ends. Sew the buttons securely in place on the moss stitch border at the back.
