I loved the leafy baby hat and wished that there was a sweater to match. Being inexperienced enough to think that I could create a pattern, I charged ahead. (There is a German saying that translates loosely to “The Good Lord protects fools and drunks" and I don't drink so you can fill in the rest.) So here it is. Size 1-3mos arn Bernat Satin Sport - Jade 2 3 oz skeins for sweater and hat - 3.5 mm (US 4 ) needles Or needles needed to achieve gauge Gauge= 24 stitches x 30 rows = 4 x4 “ Note: The chart is 2 pages wide and can be taped together. Column 78 is shown on both halves only to assist with alignment. (DO NOT knit it twice) Written instructions for the charted rows can be found at the end of the pattern on page 5
Leafy Baby Sweater

Collar & Yoke
t the first and last 4 stitches for the button bands ( I use markers to remind me Knit stitch closest to edge, knit 2nd & 3rd stitches from edge together, YO between 3rd &4" stitches and knit 4"h stitch Place button holes in right front band at %", 2 3/" 4 3/4", 6 %/", 8 3%" and 10 3% Cast on 51 stitches, (I used long tail) 43 stitches for the yoke with 4 stitches on either side for the button bands First 4 rows Knit 4, knit 1 x 1 ribbing (knit 1, purl 1 ) starting and ending with a knit stitch (RS) Next37rows Begin chart working stitches between the red repeat lines 2x or written istructions beginning on page 5 Row 1(RS) is 1 x1 ribbing (button band and button holes are included in the chart. Adjust buttonhole position if necessary) Row 2 (WS) begins lace pattern Work 36 rows of pattern, you will end up with 229 stitches (221 lace stitches + 8 button band) row(WS) place markers (pm) to define front sides, sleeves and back sections: Knit 4 pm, purl 30, pm, purl 48, pm, purl 65, pm, purl 48, pm, purl 30, pm, knit 4. Next row (RS) divide sleeves and begin body Knit 4, knit to 2"d marker (you may remove markers), place 48 sleeves stitches on stitch holder , cast on 4 stitches for under arm seam (I used double cable cast on) knit next 65 stitches to 4 marker, (you may remove markers), place 48 sleeves stithes on stitch holder , cast on 4 stitches for ude arm seam knit to last marker , knit 4.
Body
Knit rows in stockinet, remembering to knit 4 button band stitches and to place buttonholes (about every 15 rows) When body is 6" long from under arm stitches, on RS row, knit \* rows of 1 x 1 ribbing (knit 1, purl 1 ) starting and ending with a knit stitch and knitting button band stitches. Bind off loosely in pattern
Sleeves
Slip sleeve stithefrm stithhdent oramerar neduing magi lopattach yalaing lng tail toweav in (and tightuany loose underarm seam stitches) knit 48 stitches from holder pick up 1 stitch before 4 cast on stitches, pick up 1 stitch in each of the 4 cast on stitches , then pick up 1 stitch between cast on stitches and sleeve stitches 54 (48 sleeve & 6 picked up)

Knit 48, K2tog, knit 1, pm, knit 1, K2tog. Knit 1, SSK, knit to 3 stitches from marker, K2tog, Knit 1 Knit 6 rows, knit decrease row (4 times) Knit 1 row (42 stitches). Sleeve should measure 6" from seam. If not, continue stockinet until it does. Next row, knit decreasing 6 stitches evenly. (36 stitches) Knit 8 rows knit 1 x 1 ribbing, bind off loosely knitting in pattern. Repeat for second sleeve. Use tail under arm seam to tighten up any loose stitches, and weave in any loose ends. Sew buttons onto left button band. Right half of chart (column 77 appears in both halves of the chart to help with alignment - only work it once)
