Bottom Border rows:
Rows 1 - 4: k Row 5: k4, purl to last 4, K4 Row 6: k Row 7: k4, purl to last 4, k4
Pattern Rows:
Follow above charted pattern remembering that the first 4 and last 4 stitches of each row are border stitches and should be knit on every row for a garter stitch border. These 8 stitches are not shown on the above chart.
Even rows 2 - 12: k4, purl to last 4,k4
Work pattern rows for a total of 6 repeats. Be sure to do row 12 on last repeat.
Top Border rows:
Row 1: k Row 2: k4, purl to last 4, k4 Rows 3 -6: k Row 7: BO

Remember:
Odd rows: knit first 4, follow charted pattern then knit last 4 stitches. · Even rows 2 - 12: k4, purl to last 4, k4

NOTE:
I do the SSK by slipping the first stitch as if to knit, slipping the second stitch as if to purl. Those two stitches are now on the right hand needle. I then slide the left hand needle through the front of those two stitches so I can knit those two stitches together through the back loop.
