Pattern:
This hat is made bottom up to top, much like many knitted hats. I found many Tunisian hats online but most of them required a seam. I prefer working in the round for hats. The cool factor of the TCR is that the front and the back have very different looks. The stitch also creates a very soft and thicker fabric than either knitting or regular crochet. Make sure to practice the TCR and TSS before you begin this project to avoid undue frustration with the pattern. 1. ROUND 1: Using CC, CH 60 (72, 84, 96) and join carefully to the first chain without twisting to create the round. 2. ROUND 2: SC in each stitch all around and SS the first and last sts together. 60 sts (72, 84, 96) 3. ROUND 3: Begin the TCR by picking up the stitches like you would for TSS using the CC. After picking up about 8 stitches, use the other end of the double-sided hook and loop MC through the stitches in the TCR method. Continue the stitch until you reach the last stitch and place marker there to indicate end of round. Do NOT try to SS or anything because TCR works best without joining the ends of rounds. 4. ROUNDS 4-13: Continue TCR in each round and remember to move marker at the end of each round. If you are making infant hat, skip steps 5 & 6 and continue with step 7. a. 3-12 mths - ADD 2 more rounds to Step 4. b. Child - ADD 4 more rounds to Step 4 C. Adult - ADD 6 more rounds to Step 4.
