Beanie: Worked in the round. Using "pie crust" colour yarn cast on 88 st. Work 14 rows in K1, P1 rib. Knit 1 row (to set up stitches to pick up for crown of beanie). Cast off using picot bind off as shown at http://www.knitculture.com/our-blog/freetutorial-picot-bind-off/

Using pumpkin coloured yarn pick up 88 st using the top loop of each stitch created in the knit row of the ribbed "pie crust" (Make sure you pick up from the 'inside' of the ribbed band so your stocking stitch shows on the right side) Knit 8 rows then decrease as follows: (K9, K2 tog) repeat to end of round Knit 1 row (K8, K2 tog) repeat to end of round Continue deceasing every alternate round until 8 stitches remain. Cut yarn and thread through the 8 stitches and weave in end. Booties were made using Laura Yarnthrower's Seamless Baby Booties http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/seamless-baby-booties-bottom-up but with K1,P1 rib for the cuff; 7 rows orange, 9 rows brown. Picot cast off as for the Pumpkin Pie Beanie.
