Skills req'd: Long tail Cast on. Cable cast on. K2tog. SSk. Pf&b.Kf&b, M1, BO Material: 5 skeins Chunky yarn. 100yr/3.5oz. Gauge: 14 -16 Sts. X 10 Rows = 4"x 4"' Size 10 circuler needle 16"/32".(Pr) #9 , stitch holder or waste yarn. Finishing size: 15"(16, 17) neck Body length: 29" (30, 32), chest 30"(34,38) CO 56( 60, 64) Sts. Use Long tail cast on method. Join and knit on the round with K1, P1- Rib pattern. PM on the First st. Knit to piece meas. 4" (6") long. Base on the dog's neck straight part. PM on the 25th st. Increase on Neck: \* M1 after First Marker. M1 before the second Marker. \* Work one row 1x1 Rib. Repeat these 2 rows. 4 (6) times. Work the increases into rib pattern as you continue. Increase for Chest: \* M1 before and after the first Marker , also before and after the second Marker. \* Work one row 1x1 Rib. Repeat these 2 rows. 5 (6) times. Work the increases into rib pattern as you continue. Work until piece meas. The 2 Markers divide the work into 2 unequal sections. One is larger then the other. Divide the Smaller section into 3 parts. Put 2 Markers on K sts. Continue to Increase for Chest: \* M1 before and after all 4 Markers. \* Work one row 1x1 Rib. Repeat these 2 rows. 3 times. Work the increases into rib pattern as you continue. Divide for Back and Underbelly: Sts from Marker#1 to Marker#2 is the Back. The rest is Under Belly. Leave those 2 Markers in it's place. SI first st every row. Work these sts RS and WS 3" (4) long. Finish with RS row. At the end of this RS row use Cable cast-on 18 (20) sts. Then put them on holder (or waste yarn).
Under Belly and bridge opening for legs:
With a new skein start on RS.: K1, Pf&b, Rib to last 2 sts, Pf&b, K1. S1 1, Rib to the end. Work until piece meas. 4” from beginning of this section. BO 14sts at the beg. of next 2 rows. BO 3 sts next 2 rows. BO 2 sts. next 2 rows. BO 1 sts next 4 rows. Work 1x1 Rib 2 rows. Increase for underbelly: \* Kf&b, Rib to the last st Kf&b. \* Work one row. Repeat these 2 rows untill you have 25 (27, 29) sts. Finish with RS row. At the end of this RS row use Cable cast-on 18 (20) sts. Join the Back piece. Work across the Back piece and the Cast on sts. Check the Rib pattern. If the number are off. Adjust by K2tog once. Work on the round. Knit the piece 5” (6) long from the point where the Back join w/ Under belly. Decrease: Divide the Under Belly potion (included 36 (40) new cast on sts) to 4 equal parts ( put 3 new markers ） K2tog at the 3 Markers every other rows , 2 times. Maintain Rib pattern as possible. Work to 10 sts before the Center of Under Belly,BO 20 sts. Continue the round until you come to the BO section, Turn work. Now you will be Knitting RS and WS instead of on rounds. BO 6 sts at the beg. of next 4rows. BO 4 sts at beg. of next 2 rows. BO 2sts at beg. of next 8 rows. Work one row back. Continue Dec. by K2tog at the beg. and end of every other RS row. 4 (6) times. Until piece meas. From Neck is 27"' (29) Change to one size smaller needles. Decrease every RS row 6 times. BO all sts. Weave in end. Happy Knitting!
