Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy
Designed by Jan Eaton, Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy is a quick and easy knitted washcloth worked in cotton or cotton blend yarn. Work all increase rows in one colour and all decrease rows in the second colour (bottom washcloth), or change colours to create stripes (top washcloth).
Materials
Two contrasting colours of double knitting (worsted) weight machine-washable cotton or cotton/acrylic blend with approximately $115\mathrm{m}$ (126 yds) to $50\mathrm{g}$ - one ball of each colour will make two washcloths Pair of $4\mathrm{mm}$ (US size 6) straight needles
Size
Approximately 20cm (8in) square The washcloths in the photograph were knitted in Bergere de France Sonora in the Onde (turquoise) and Gardenia (coral) colourways.
Knitting the washcloth
When working the striped version, mark one side of the washcloth with a scrap of contrasting yarn to denote the right side and always change yarn colours on right side rows. Cast on 1 st, K into the front and back of the st. Increase rows: On the next and every following row, knit to the last stitch, K into the front and back of the last st. Repeat until you have 53 sts on the needle then change to working decrease rows. Decrease rows: K to the last 2 sts, K2 tog. Repeat until 2 sts remain on the needle, then K2 tog and pull the yarn through. To finish the washcloth, darn in yarn ends and block if necessary.
