Materials:
Yarn: any worsted weight yarn (I used RHss/Cornmeal for this pattern, and hot pink/royal blue for the Minions version) 4 Stitch markers ( If you don't have stitch markers, use any other color yarn or paper clip) Hook size: H-5.00 mm (or I -5.5 mm if your grip is tighter) 4 buttons of your choice (or make them with yarn) Scissors Large eye needle to sew in the ends and buttons
Stitches used:
Ch= chain Sc= single crochet Dc= double crochet Ext dc= extended double crochet Sl st= slip stitch . St= stitch Dc2tog= double crochet decrease Dc inc.= double crochet increase \*Extended double crochet: Yarn over twice (as if you were making a treble) go into the st. yarn over pull through, yarn over pull through two loops, yarn over pull through three remaining loops on hook.\* \*We will begin making it from the back up to the front. Starting with the diaper straps. Itis made practically in just one piece. And then we make the suspenders at the end.\* \*Turning chains (ch 1) on every row will not count as a sticth\* Instructions: Chain 37 R-1: Sc on the second ch from the hook and in each stitch across. (36 stitches total) An0 R-2: Ch 1, make an extended dc in same st as ch1 (turning ch) and in each st across. (36 st total) R-3: Ch 1, sc in each stitch across. Fasten off. (36 st total). Put a st marker on the 7th stitch and on the 30th stitch. (You will have 6 stitches on each side for the straps). R-4: Attatch with a sl)st on to the first st marker, ch 1 and dc in same st as joined and in each st across and into the second st marker. (24 st total).(Ch 1 turn. R-5: Dc in each st across, ch 1 turn. (24 st total). \*R-6 to R-11: Are decrease rows: decreasing once at the begginning and once at the end of each row. R-6: dc2tog, dc in each st across, dc2tog. Ch 1 turn. (22 st total) R-12 to R-15: One dc in same st as chain one (turning ch) and'dc in each st across. Ch 1 turn. (12 st total) R-16 to R-18: Increase rows. Increase once at the begginning and once at the end of every row. Ch 1 turn. R-26: Decrease dnce at the begginning and once at the end. Fasten off. Sew in your ends. Now to make the suspenders: On the top back of the diaper cover, you will place a st marker on the 16th st and another on the 21st st. (You should have 15 stitches on each side from the st markers) Attatch yarn to either st marker st. Ch 1, make a dc in same as ch 1 st and in the next five stitches. Including the next st marker. (6 st total). Ch 1 turn, dc2tog, one dc in next two st. and dc2tog. (4 st total). Ch1 turn. Make a dc in the first st and 2 dc in the second st, ch 1 turn. (3 st total) Dc in all 3 stitches and ch 1, till you have 12-13 rows. Chain 4 or 5 skip one st and sl st into the next. (Measure if your button goes through). Fasten off. For the second suspender attatch on one of the stitches ch 1 and make two dc in one st and one dc in the next. (3 st total) Ch 1 and continue making one dc in each of the 3 sts till you have 12-13 fows. Ch 4-5 skip one st and sl st into the last one. Fasten off. Hide the ends. And attatch the buttons. I used 2cm buttons for the diaper straps and 1cm buttons for the suspenders. I attatched the diaper strap buttons between rows 18 and 19. And the suspender buttons on row 25. If making buttons out of yarn: I did a: Magic circle, 6 sc, close the circle sl st to first sc st and fasten off (leaving about Zinches to attatch the button on to the overall). Weave in the center end and attatch the button. For the diaper strap buttons I did 7 sc into the magic circle. -I made the G (Gru) logo on the Minions overall with felt. (Optional)
