The Yarns:
Rowan Kidsilk Haze (super kid mohair and silk, 229 yards 25gram) Rowan Kidsilk Aura (kid mohair and silk, 82 yards 25 gram) Rowan Kid Classic (lambswool and kids mohair, 153 yards 50 gram) Rowan Felted Tweed (merino, alpaca and viscose, 191 yards 50 gram)
Cast On:
A crochet cast on was used. Montse Stanley (Knitters Handbook) calls this the “"cast off cast on" and is not a provisional cast on. (See Sally Melville's The Knit Stitch, page 74). This is a loose cast on which replicates the cast off edge. If you cannot find help with this wonderful cast on (try You Tube) or use a larger needle and make the loosest cast on you can muster.
Yarn Sequence:
Grey - Aura (Pumice) and Kids Classic (Smudge) held together Cream - Kid Classic (Feather) Green- Haze (Meadow) and Felted Tweed #1430 held together Cream - Haze (Pearl)- used doubled Rose - Aura #756 and Felted Tweed #1424 held together Cream Kid Classic (Feather) Lavender- Haze (Dewberry) and Kid Classic (Lavender) held together Cream - Haze (Pearl)- used doubled
Pattern:
Shawl is worked in garter stitch. Each row begins and ends with fringe. Repeat color sequence throughout. With Gray, CO 130 Stitches. Leave 12 inch loop of yarn. Turn work. Knit across in Gray. Leave $6^{\prime\prime}$ tail and cut yarn. With Cream, with a 6 inch tail, knit across. Leave approximately 12 inch loop of yarn. Turn work. Knit across. Leave a $6^{\prime\prime}$ tail and cut yarn Continue with Green, with a 6 inch tail, knit across. Leave approximately 12 inch loop of yarn. Turn work. Knit across. Leave a $6^{\prime\prime}$ tail and cut yarn Continue with Cream, with a 6 inch tail, knit across. Leave approximately 12 inch loop of yarn. Turn work. Knit across. Leave a $6^{\prime\prime}$ tail and cut yarn Continue with Rose, with a 6 inch tail, knit across... Continue with Cream, with a 6 inch tail, knit across... Continue with Lavender, with a 6 inch tail knit across... Continue with Cream, with a 6 inch tail, knit across.... Continue with Gray, with a 6 inch tail, knit across... Repeat colors and end with gray. Finishing: Bind off loosely Fringe Tighten up loops, tie in groups of two and trim to 6 in.
