Test Knitting and Photo by Deborah Higgins These top-down socks may look cold on the outside, but they will keep your tootsies toasty warm. They are worked in the round on two needles and feature a twisted rib cuff, stranded leg and foot, a short row heel, and two toe choices. Please read the pattern instructions before you begin.

Needles:

2 circular needles of the same size, 24" length is what Ipreer Use thesize to get the gauge you require. The finerthe yarn the smaller the needle. Sizes are determined by "tweeking" the gauge. There are 13 gauges so most adults willfind their perfect fit

Yarn:

MC and CC in the yarn to get gauge and size of your choice. Please assure both yarns are of the same weight and fiber content. If for example, the white yarn (CC) is a sport weight of 80% superwash wool and 20% nylon the blue (MC) must be as well.

Notes:

The Leg and Foot chart will have a "hitch" where the rounds begin. This happens because you are knitting in a spiral. To make the transition a bit smoother, after the first round, knit the first stitch of each round in the stitch below. This will "pull up' the round. If you don't mind the jog, just knit as usual. If you have a narrow heel, drop a needle size to work the heel. You can also work fewer wrapped sts for a wider heel or more wrapped sts for a narrower heel. Instructions for doing the Kitchner Stitch graft can be found in many locations. I've listed a few for you. htp:/knitty.com summer04 isue; Vogue Knitting: The Ultimate Knitters Handbook; Knitters Handbook by Montse Stanley; And, of course, YouTube. @2013 brown - Pattern (including charts) may not be reproduced or sold without permission from the designer. Please take time to do a gauge swatch. You'll like your socks better if they fit!
