Alchemical Cloche: A Detailed Knitting Pattern with Natural Dye Techniques and Magical Color Shifts

Alchemical Cloche

This cloche is dyed with goldenrod harvested in the hottest part of the summer. The color was shifted from yellow to green by using iron in addition to alum as a mordant. Gauge: 18 sts X 24 rows= 4"X4" square in stockinette stitch Yarn: One skein aran weight yarn. 100g- 166m/181yds. Needles: 4.5mm (US size 7) 16" circular needles and a set of the same size DPN's Notions: Darning needle, one place marker, one yarn of ribbon if you wish (and the thread and needle to stitch it onto the work)

Working flat: Cast on 100 stitches Knit 4 rows Repeat the following two rows 5 times. (ten rows total) Row 1: knit across Row 2: k5, p90, k5 To join for working in the round: k1, k2tog, k2tog, k2tog, k2tog, k82, ssk, ssk, ssk, ssk, k2tog. The final k2tog joins the first and last stitches togetherbe careful not to twist your stitches. Place a marker. (now 91 sts) Knit 10 rounds even k2tog, k2tog, k2tog, k78, ssk, ssk, ssk, k1 (now 85 sts) Knit 10 rounds even k2tog, k2tog, k2tog, k72, ssk, ssk, ssk, k1 (now 79 sts) Knit 10 rounds k2tog, k74, ssk, k1 (now 77 sts) Crowndecreases: Round 1: \*p2, k3, k2tog. repeat from \* eleven times (now 66 sts) Round 2: \*p2, k2, k2tog. repeat from \* eleven times (now 55 sts) Round 3: \*p2, k1, k2tog. repeat from \* eleven times (now 44 sts) Round 4: \*p2, k2tog. repeat from \* eleven times (now 33 sts) Round 5: \*p1, p2tog. repeat from \* eleven times (now 22 sts) Round 6: \*p2tog. repeat from \* eleven times (now 11 sts) Round 7: \*p2tog. repeat from \*five times, p1 (now 6 sts) Break a 6" or longer tail, pull through remaining stitches.
