PATTERN NOTES
· Adjustments in size can best be made by changing needle size and gauge. · Instructions for the mitt are given in both chart and written form. · If longer or shorter length is required above the thumb, an addition half repeat may be added. However, you will need to shift the start of the cuff pattern by 5 sts. You may also just make the ribbing pattern longer. · Pay attention to rows that end or begin with a yarn over. These are easy to accidentally drop or overlook when working the next row. Instructions: Cast on 50 sts. Join in the round and evenly distribute on double pointed needles, or work with the Magic Loop method. Work rib pattern for 6 rounds. Rib pattern: \*K1b, P1, K1b, P2, K1b, P2, K1b, P1, repeat from \* around. For each round, work the first 25 sts in pattern, then knit all sts in between the markers, and finally work the remaining sts in pattern as established. See Chart or written instructions for rows 1-63. You may do the increases any way you like. I suggest you do a M1R and a M1L, but the lifted increases would work as well. On the increase rounds, work up to and slip marker, K1, m1, knit until one st before 2nd marker, m1, K1, slip 2nd marker, continue in pattern as established. Increases will occur on Gusset Rounds 1, 4, 7, 10, 13, 16, 19, 21, and 24. There will be 19 sts between markers. Work two more rounds as established. Chart: Mitt Body with Gusset

Chart shows mitt body after completion of the cuff ribbing. The pink section is the stitch pattern repeat. The green stars indicate where you need to move the last stitch from the previous round in order to complete the SK2P. You will also need to do this in Row 63. Note in Row 39 for the stitches immediately before and after the gusset, there is an ssk and a K2tog, instead of the knit stitch you might expect with the pattern. This is to keep the stitch count constant. Repeat Row 64 four times for top ribbing. Take care also with rows ending in a YO, since it easy to overlook them on following rows. CENTER CROSS (worked over 3 sts): Slip 1st st to cable needle and hold in back. Slip next st to CN and hold in front. Purl next st. Knit st from front CN. Purl st from back CN. Note that in Row 63 for the first center cross st, you will have to move the last st from previous round to the front, unwork it it, and then do the center cross.

Thumb: Knit 19 stitches from waste yarn, then pick up and knit 5 sts along gap (24 sts on needles), Row 1: K19, ssk, K1, K2tog. (22 sts) Row 2: K 19, SK2P. (20 sts) Row 3 - 5: Knit Row 6 -9: work in K1b, P1 rib. Bind off with sewn bind off, or other stretchy method..
