Rainbow beanie and Rainbow slouchie beanie crochet patterns by Rosy Alice Crochet @ Ravelry
This document contains two crochet patterns, one to make an ordinary beanie and one to make a slouchie beanie.
You will need the following for both patterns:
Yarn (white, five other colours) 6mm crochet hook Tapestry needle to sew in ends

UK terms used throughout, so a DC = US SC and a TR = US DC.
Slouchie beanie pattern
This pattern uses front post triple crochets BUT you can crochet ordinary triple crochets if you prefer. Join with a slip stitch, taking care not to twist yarn. Row 1: Chain 1. Crochet a double crochet into the next stitch and then all the way around. This is the brim of the hat. At the end of the row, slip stitch into the FIRST stitch of the previous row, not into the chain 1. Do not fasten off or cut yarn. Row 2: Change to colour 1. Chain 1. Crochet a front post triple crochet into the next stitch and then all the way around. At the end of the row, slip stitch into the FIRST stitch of the previous row, not into the chain 1. Cut yarn and fasten off. Row 3: Change back to white yarn. Chain 1. Crochet a front post triple crochet into the next stitch and then all the way around. At the end of the row, slip stitch into the FIRST stitch of the previous row, not into the chain 1. Do not fasten off or cut yarn. Row 4: Change to colour 2. Chain 1. Crochet a front post triple crochet into the next stitch and then all the way around. At the end of the row, slip stitch into the FIRST stitch of the previous row, not into the chain 1. Cut yarn and fasten off. Row 5: Repeat row 3. Row 6: Change to colour 3. Chain 1. Crochet a front post triple crochet into the next stitch and then all the way around. At the end of the row, slip stitch into the FIRST stitch of the previous row, not into the chain 1. Cut yarn and fasten off. Row 7: Repeat row 3. Row 8: Change to colour 4. Chain 1. Crochet a front post triple crochet into the next stitch and then all the way around. At the end of the row, slip stitch into the FIRST stitch of the previous row, not into the chain 1. Cut yarn and fasten off. Row 9: Repeat row 3. Row 10: Change to colour 5. Chain 1. Crochet a front post triple crochet into the next stitch and then all the way around. At the end of the row, slip stitch into the FIRST stitch of the previous row, not into the chain 1. Cut yarn and fasten off. Rows 11 - 30: Repeat row 3. After you have completed row 30, leave a long tail and cut yarn. Use a tapestry needle to weave yarn all the way around the edge of the hat and then pull yarn like a drawstring to close hat. Sew in ends. Tie knots to ensure secure closure if needed.
Rainbow beanie (non-slouchie)
Start with a magic ring (or your preferred method) and white yarn . Round 1: 10 htr into ring. Pull ring closed and tie a small double knot after stitch 10 to secure and stop ring stretching when worn (20 stitches). Round 2: 2 htr into each stitch from the previous round (20 st) Round 3: \*1 htr into first stitch, 2 htr into next.\* Continue from \* to \* all the way around. You should end round on a 2 htr (30 st). Round 4: 1 htr, 1 htr, 2 htr into next. Continue from \* to \* all the way around. You should end round on a 2 htr (40 st). Round 5: 1 htr, 1 htr, 1 htr, 2 into next. Continue from \* to \* all the way around. You should end round on a 2 htr (50 st). Do not cut or fasten off white yarn. Round 6: With colour 1, 1 htr, 1 htr, 1 htr, 1 htr, 2 into next. Continue from \* to \* all the way around. You should end round on a 2 htr (60 st). Round 7: With colour 1, 1 htr, 1 htr, 1 htr, 1 htr, 1 htr, 2 into next. Continue from \* to \* all the way around. You should end round on a 2 htr (70 st). Cut and fasten off colour 1 yarn. Rounds 8 and 9: With white yarn, 1 htr into each stitch (70 st). Rounds 10 and 11: With colour 2, 1 htr into each stitch (70 st). Cut and fasten off colour 2 yarn. Rounds 12 and 13: Repeat round 8. Rounds 14 and 15: With colour 3, 1 htr into each stitch (70 st). Cut and fasten off colour 3 yarn. Rounds 16 and 17: Repeat round 8. id 19: With colour 4, 1 htr into each stitch (70 st). Cut and fasten off colour 4 yarn. Rounds 20 and 21: Repeat round 8. Rounds 22 and 23: With colour 5, 1 htr into each stitch (70 st). Cut and fasten off colour 5 yarn. Rounds 24 and 25: Repeat round 8. Round 26: With white, double crochet all the way around to create a brim. Cut yarn and fasten off. Sew in ends. To make smaller hats with both patterns, simply use a smaller hook. To add more colours, simply swap a white row or rows for your colour of choice. Remember that we don't cut off the white yarn until the hats are completed. Thank you and good luck!
