Notes inspired by the hats worn by Forks Spartans in the movie New Moon

MATERIALS
1 set of US size 6 circular needles 16 in 1 set of US size 7 circular needles 16 in Set of US size 7 double pointed needles Stitch markers Tapestry Needle GAUGE Stockinette:18 sts / 26 rows $=4$ inches using US size 7 needles.
FINISHED MEASUREMENTS
Hat is a size Small beanie Width: 8 inches Height: 7 1/2 inches

Spartan gear for New Moon Jessica wearing Spartan Mittens in Twilight. Colors: Navy and yellow and white.

DIRECTIONS:
With US #6 circular needles, cast on 84 sts (Small) for different sizes just make sure the total amount is evenly divisible by four and then add more decreases at the very end. Place stitch marker and join the circle.
Rim of Hat
Work in the round k1p1 rib for 1 inches about 8 rows.
Base of Hat
Switch to US #7 circular needles and .. For FHS Version: knit until entire piece measure 5 1/2 inches. For Striped Version: Knit about 10 rows of blue after rim. Switch to white for 2 rows. Switch back to blue for 2 rows, Switch to yellow for 8 rows. Switch to blue for 2 rows. Switch to white for 2 rows. Go back to blue and continue knitting until piece measures 5 1/2 inches (about 3-5 more rows). Note: You can use this same stripe pattern on the top of a mitten pattern to replicate Jessica's for a matching set.
Begin Decrease
Divide hat into four equal sections of 21 sts. Switch to Double needles when knitting get to tight. Row 1: K2tog. K until 2 stitches remain, ssk for all four sections Row 2: Knit Continue this decreasing pattern 4 times. 44 sts left Now decrease every row as in Row 1 until 12 sts remain. Cut yarn, leaving an 8" [20.5 cm] tail, and thread tail through the remaining 12 sts to close the top of the hat.
FINISHING
Weave in all ends. For FHS Version refers to charts on next page and add details using a duplicate stitch. Go SPARTANS!
