Lacy Scallops Hat Pattern

Here's what you need: Yarn - one skein of Cascade 220 Superwash or 300 yards of the worsted weight of your choice (shown in color 871) Needles - size 8 $(5\;\mathrm{mm})$ needles in $^{16^{\prime\prime}}$ circulars and double pointed needles Notions - tapestry needle Gauge - 5 stitches $\times\,6\,\mathrm{rows}=1^{\prime\prime}$ in stockinette $\mathrm{K}=\mathrm{Knit}$ $$ \textstyle\operatorname{P}=\operatorname{Purl} $$ K2tog $=$ Knit two stitches together YO $=$ Yarn over Feather and Fan Lace Pattern:


Rounds 1 and 2: Knit Round 3: $^{\star}({\bf k}2{\bf t o g})$ three times, (YO, K1) six times, (k2tog) three times\*, repeat from \* to \* for pattern Round 4: Purl PATTERN: Lacy Scallops Edge: Using the circular needle, cast on 90 stitches. Join into a circle, being careful not to twist. Place a marker between stitches one and two of round. Knit three repeats of the feather and fanlace pattern to reate the calloped edge. $\copyright$ 2009 - Allison Sarnoff Work in stockinette until the hat measures $5\,1/2^{\prime\prime}$ from the cast on edge. Reduce 10 stitches evenly around the hat. 80 stitches remain. Begin reductions in the following manner, switching to double pointed needles as needed: Round 1: $^{\ast}\mathbf{k}2,$ $\mathrm{k}2\mathrm{tog}^{\ast}$ around. 60 stitches remain. Round 2: Knit around. Round 3: $^{\ast}\mathrm{k}1$ $\mathrm{k}2\mathrm{tog}^{\ast}$ around. 40 stitches remain. Round 4: Knit around. Round 5: k2tog around. 20 stitches remain. Round 6: k2tog around. 10 stitches remain. Cut the yarn, leaving a long tail. Thread the working yarn into the tapestry needle. Thread the yarn through the remaining stitches and remove the double pointed needles from the stitches. Pullthe yarn tightly to close up the top of the hat. Weave in the yarn on the wrong side of the hat and trim. Weave in tail of the cast on yarn on the wrong side of the hat and trim.
