Aly's Owls Knit Hat

Materials: 2 colors of Worsted Weight yarn, approximately360z US size 8, $5.0\mathrm{mm}$ circular knitting needles and/or DPN's Cable needle Tapestry needles to weave in ends Gauge: 5 stitches $=1$ inch (lengthwise) Sizes: Baby, Toddler, Child, Adult (12-14", 14-18", 18-20", 20-22") Notes: Both patterns are easily adjustable to fit any head size, measure the head, multiply by 5 and cast on rounding down to the nearest multiple of 10 (i.e. $17.5^{\circ}$ circumference would workouto $5\mathrm{x}17.5=87.5$ so you would cast on 80 sts since the hats are stretchy.)
Pattern Notes: $C B4B-\mathrm{Put}$ first two stitches on cable needle and hold at the back of the work, knit the next two stitches, knit the two stitches from the cable needle. $C B4F-\mathrm{Put}$ first two stitches on cable needle and hold at the front of the work, knit the next two stitches, knit the two stitches from the cable needle. Using your contrasting color cast on 60 (80, 90, 100) sts place marker and join to work in the round being careful not to twist the stitches. K1P1 around until you have 1" (1", 1.5" 1.5")

$\mathrm{}^{\ast}\mathrm{K}8$ ， $\mathrm{P}2^{*}$ repeat to the end of the rnd and for the next 2 (2, 5, 5) rounds. \*CB4B, CB4F, $\mathrm{P}2^{*}$ repeat to the end of the rnd $\mathrm{}^{\ast}\mathrm{K}8$ ， $\mathrm{P}2^{*}$ repeat to the end of the rnd and for the next 5 (6, 7, 7) rounds \*CB4B, CB4F, $\mathrm{P}2^{*}$ repeat to the end of the rnd $\mathrm{}^{\ast}\mathrm{K}8$ ， $\mathrm{P}2^{*}$ repeat to the end of the rnd and for the next 3 (4, 5, 5) rounds \*CB4B, CB4F, $\mathrm{P}2^{*}$ repeat to the end of the rnd $\mathrm{}^{\ast}\mathrm{K}8$ ， $\mathrm{P}2^{*}$ rep to the end of the rnd and for the next 3 rounds $^{*}\mathrm{K}9$ ， $\mathbf{P}1^{*}$ rep around until the hat measures $4^{**}\,(4.5^{**},\,5.5^{**},\,5.75^{**})$ inches from top to bottom. Knit every rnd until the hat measures $4.5^{\circ}\,(5^{\circ},\,6^{\circ},\,6.25^{\circ})$ from top to bottom

\*K2tog, $\mathrm{K}8^{*}$ rep to the end of the rnd Knit 1 rnd $\ast\mathrm{K}2$ tog, $\mathrm{K}7^{*}$ rep to the end of the rnd Knit 1 rnd Continue to decrease one row and knit one row (following the dec pattern) until you have completed $^{*}\!\mathrm{K}2\mathrm{tog}\,\,\mathrm{K}1^{*}$ after this rnd do not knit a rnd. $^{*}\mathrm{K}2\mathrm{tog}^{*}$ in each rnd until you have two stitches left, tie these two stitches together and weave in the ends.
