Funky Pumpkin Mitts

Size 8 (5.0 mm) needles, straight, circular, or dpn. Mitts are small and worked flat! Patons Classic Wool in black (MC) Lion Brand Nature's Pride Organic Cotton in pumpkin (CC) Cast on 28 stitches using the backwards loop or preferred method in black (MC) 1. Knit k2, P2 ribbing across. 2. Knit k2, P2, then \*(ktbl x2) P2\*, repeat \*\* to end. Knitting through the back loop is not necessary, but it helps pull a sloppy rib together if you struggle with that like I do. Otherwise, K2,P2 rib is just fine. 3. Repeat row 2 until work measures not quite an inch. 4. knit one row plain. 5.Switching to pumpkin (CC), purl across. 6. Knit across. 7. In MC, purl across. 8. Knit Across. 9. In CC, purl across. 10. Knit across. 11. Continue in pattern as set until five CC stripes have been worked, or desired length. Hold the work to the hand with the seam edge on the thumb size. The work will reach another inch before binding off, which should cover the knuckles once finished. 12. Using MC, purl across one row. 13. Resume k2, P2 ribbing as before, and work to about half an inch. Knitting through the back loop is optional. 14. Bind off in pattern. 15. Hold the mitts to the hand with the seam on the thumb side. Estimate the location of the thumb opening and kitchener together. Enjoy!
