Directions
For a larger sized head, it is recommended that an extra 0.25" is added to the length of the body [see () in pattern] Hat Ribbing CO56sts Place marker and join in the round making sure the cast on edge is not twisted. Rnd 1: \*K2, P2\*, rep between \*\* until end of rnd. Rep rnd 1 until piece measures 2.5" from CO edge. Hat Body Rnd 1: K round while inc 2 sts evenly - 58 sts Rnd 2-4: Knit Rnd 5: Purl Rnd 6-9: Knit Rnd 10: Purl Repeat rnds 6-10 twice more or until piece measures 6" (6.25") from cast on edge.
Decrease for Crown
(Switch to DPNswhen necessary) Rnd 1: K while dec 2 sts evenly - 56 sts Rnd 2: K Rnd 3: \*k6, k2tog\*, rep between \*\* until end of rnd - 49 sts Rnd 4: \*k5, k2tog\*, rep between \*\* until end of rnd -41 sts Rnd 5: \*k4, k2tog\*, rep between \*\* until end of rnd - 34 sts Rnd 6: \*k3, k2tog\*, rep between \*\* until end of rnd - 27 sts Rnd 7: \*k2, k2tog\*, rep between \*\* until end of rnd - 20 sts Rnd 8: \*k1, k2tog\*, rep between \*\* until end of rnd - 13 sts Rnd 9: k2tog until the end of the round - 6 sts Cut a long tail and thread with a darning needle. Pick up all remaining sts with the darning needle, and pull tight to cinch shut. Weave in ends on the inside (wrong side) of the toque. Add a pom-pom at the top if desired.
