The Perfect Gift
A quick and easy scarf pattern by Jill June (copyright October, 2011)

This is a quick and easy pattern that makes a great luxury gift - suitable for men and women. It's a great accessory scarf to wear under your coat in the winter, to keep the chill out. You can cast on additional stitches to make the scarf a little wider (it will also be a little shorter). You don't need to make a button hole since the button will easily slip through the stitches. Directions are shown for Super Bulky weight yarn (with directions for chunky weight in parenthesis). Materials: 1 Skein Studio June Yarn Silky Alpaca Super Bulky, 72 yards (or 1 Skein Squishy Soft Chunky, 120 yards) 1 Button - optional, approximately 1" (3/4") Needle: Size 13 (11) straight or circular
Directions:
Cast on 11 (17) stitches. (For a wider scarf cast on 13 (19) stitches and work in pattern to the end of each row). Row 1: slip the first stitch as if to purl, (K1, P1) 5 (8) times. Row 2: slip the first stitch as if to knit, (P1, K1) 5 (8) times. Repeat Rows 1 and 2 until about 1 or 2 yards remain. Bind off loosely in pattern. Weave in ends, attach button, and enjoy
