Alex's Baby Blanket
(updated March I4, 2OI2) The blanket consists of moss stitch edges, and a tulip lace body. Following the instructions below (casting 97 stitches) will give you a blanket that is about \~29" wide. This was made to be a small carriage blanket. Add repeats (see below), if you want to make yours longer. Note: This was my very first pattern written; so it was simple notesthat/couldfollow.Ivenowupdatedittohelpsomeof thosethathaveGottenconfusedinthepast. You will need : US 7 - 4.5mm circular needles (36" long) 1 ball of Pound of love (or equivalent yarn; I had more than half of the ball left over; so for this small blanket I used less than 500 yards)
Cast on 97 stitches (or multiple of 8 plus 17 - as I mentioned above, 97 stitches gave me \~29" width) Odd rows (RS) are the tulip lace pattern; it appears in bold text. Moss stitch edge of the blanket appears in red/regular text. Abbreviations: YF: yarn forward SKP: Slip one stitch, knit one, pass the slipped stitch over k2tog: Knit two together (in chart appears as as N) Row 1to 8 : K1, \*p1, k1, rep from \* to end Row 9: K1, p1, k1, p1, k1, Knit until 5 stitches left, k1, pl, kl, p1, kl. Row 10 & even rows: K1, p1, k1, p1, k1, Purl until 5 stitches left, kl, pl, kl, p1, k1. Row 11: K1, p1, k1, p1, k1, K3, \*YF, SKP, k6, rep from \* to last 9 stiches, YF, SKP, k2, kl, pl, kl, pl, k1. Row 13: K1, p1, k1, p1, k1, K1, \*k2tog, YF, k1, YF, SKP, K3; repeat from \* to last 11 sts, k2tog, YF, k1, YF, SKP, k1, Row 15: K1, pl, kl, pl, kl, Same as row 11 Row 17: K1, pl, kl, pl, k1, Knit to last 5 stitches, K1, p1, kl, pl, k1 Row 19: K1, pl, kl, pl, k1, K7, \*yf, SKP, k6; rep from\* to last 5 stitches, K1, p1, kl, pl, k1 Row 21: K1, pl, kl, p1, k1, K5,\*k2tog yf k1, yf SKP, k3; rep from \* to last 7 stitches, K2, K1, pl, kl, pl, k1 Row 23: K1, pl, kl, p1, k1, Same as row 19 Row 24 K1, pl, kl, p1, k1, Purl until last 5 stitches left, K1, pl, kl, pl, k1 Repeat rows 9 to 24 until you get desired lenght. I chose to repeat until blanket was about 34 inches in length Last 8 rows same as first 8 rows; moss stitch: K1, \*p1, k1, rep from \* to end Bind off.
